An old fashioned Independence
Day Celebration will take place at Old
Bethpage Village Restoration, Tuesday,
July 4 complete with patriotic
speeches, brass band music, musket
fire and a traditional parade. The
festivities take place from 12:30 to 4:00
P.M.
County Executive Thomas S.
Gulotta said that the day will have
all the frills of a glorious Fourth from
the year 1851. Visitors are invited to
bring their lunches to the Temperence
Society Picnic behind the Noon Inn
where fiddle music will be played until
1:00 P.M.
The Independence Day parade and
formal ceremonies will begin at 2:00
P.M. The parade will include the
uniformed militia, the Ladies Temperence
Society, a brass band and all the
residents of the village.
Additional festivities will include
children's games such as hoops and
sticks at the village crossroads,
military drills and brass band concerts
throughout the afternoon.
Old Bethpage Village Resoration is
operated by the Museum Services
Division of the Nassau County
Department of Recreation and Parks
and is located on Round Swamp Road
in Old Bethpage, one mile south of
Long Island Expressway Exit 48. it
is open every day except Mondays
from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. Admission
to the historical village ends one hour
prior to closing. The Village cafeteria,
gift shop and picnic area are open
daily. Admission is $4.00 ($3.00 for
Nassau residents) and- $2.00 for
children, ages 5-17 and Senior Citizens
(ages 60 and over). Parking is free.

Success

in the recent ''Spring Cleanup"
held in the village.
The event was a great success,
attracting many civic-minded resi-dents
who combed the village, picking
up trash and accumulated litter.
The civic association organized the
cleanup in conjunction with the
Bethpage Republican Club^ Knights
of Columbus, Bethpage Rotary,
Women's Club, Historical Society,
Police Athletic League, Bethpage
High School Civics Club, several
PTA s and others, A merican Ref-Fuel,
which is planning to build a resource
recovery plant in Oyster Bay Town,
sponsored the event. The firm provided
brooms, garbage bags, rakes,
shovels, receptacles ami refreshments.
