Restoration on the weekend of
August 13 and 14 can play games
popular over a hundred years ago,

driving, and listen to traditional
music.

invited to play popular 19th Century
games such as croquet, marbles, and
hoops and sticks on vSaturday and
Sunday, from 1 to 4 PM.
Croquet will be played by the 1860s
regulations when the sport first gained
popularity in the United States. It was
a sport particularly appealing to genteel
young ladies and one of the few
outdoor games they were allowed to
play dunrrg this pjcriod,.
Entertairlment Will also be featured
with a fiddle duet on Saturday and a
performance by the Old Bethpage
Singers on Sunday, from I to 4 PM.
On Sunday, August 14, from 10
AM -4 PM, the style and elegance of
the 19th Century horses and carriages
will be on display, featuring a variety
of two and four wheeled vehicles
powered by the well groomed
animals.
Pleasure classes and obstacle
classes will be judged during the day at
the Long Island Fairgrounds. The
pleasure classes will be judged on the
performance and skilled handling of
the horse and the appearance and
suitability of the turnout, which
includes the horse harness, vehicle
and driver.
The obstacle classes provide stylish
excitement. These classes are judged
on the speed with which the prescribed
obstacle course is successfully
maneuvered at a trot. Penalty points
will be added to the time of those who
knock into or run over a obstacle.
The highlight of the day occurs
when the vehicles take to the Village

marathon where speed is not of the
essence. The winner is the one who
comes closest to the pre-determined
