through May 31.
The Games, a program of
the New York state Office of

throughout the State, will be

Coalition Fights For
LILCO Rate Cut
The coalition has put together a team of outstanding
attorneys and technical experts to develop its case before the
Public Service Commission. They noted that the team of
legal and technical experts has outstanding credentials and
extensive hands-on experience in utility rate proceedings.
The coalition will be focusing on the following areas:
* Removing all Shoreham related charges from LILCO's
rates;
* Assuring reliable electricity service for Long Islanders
without Shoreham;
* Challenging LILCO's assumption that it is entitled to
5% rate increases every year under an earlier PSC decision;
* Opposing any additional cash flow relief to bail out
LILCO and its creditors;
* Opposing LILCO's request to charge ratepayers for
$125 million of the utility's loss on the Jamesport Nuclear
Power Plant; and
* Opposing LILCO's request o charge ratepayers $23
million for costs related to Hurricane Gloria in September,
1985.
"By pooling our resources, the coalition can present a very
powerful case demonstrating that LILCO's rate hike proposal
should be rejected and Shoreham related charges
should be eliminated," said Executive Director Kessel
Suffolk County, which is also a member of the coalition,
said it has retained the law firm of Kirkpatrick and Lockhart
to work with the CPB's attorneys in the LILCO rate case.
Kirkpatrick and Lockhart has been counsel to the County
on all Shoreham related matters.

seeking a 20 percent reduction in LILCO rates.

of 8-21 whatever therir physical
challenge may be."
The challenge categories
are for blind, deaf, spinal
cord injured, cerebral palsy,
amputee, and a les autres
grouping for all other physical
disabilities.
"There is genuine inspiration
in store for everyone
who comes to this unique

see how challenged boys and
girls are discovering new
horizons in their lives."

distances for backstroke,
