Family Blood Donor Day
Planned by Grumman
In keeping with their sense of community spirit
and in an effort to replenish blood used during the
July 4 holiday weekend, Grumman and the Long
Island Blood Services have announced a "Grumman
Family Day" at the Blood Center.
On Monday, July 7, Grumman dependents,
their relatives, neighbors, Grumman suppliers
and ail those who are interested in helping their
community are asked to donate blood. The drive
is being held at Long Island Blood Services, 155
Duryea Road in Melville, which is south of the
Long Island Expressway, east of Route 110. The
hours will be from 9 a.m. to 8:45 p.m^
Included in the day's activities wiM be celebrities
and sports stars on hand to greet the donors.
There will also be prizes for everyone including
free coupons for Burger King whoppers, fries and
sodas. Other prizes, such as tickets for baseball
games, theater, and the movies will be raffled off
at the end of the day.
This year, the Grumman Corporation has set a
goal of 12,000 pints of blood donated by its
employees. The "Grumman Family Day" is an
additional blood drive which will give family and
friends the chance to pass along the "gift of life."
Gerry Sandler, the 1986 Grumman Blood
Drive Chairman, is looking forward to an exciting
and productive day at the Blood Center. It is
hoped that all the families and friends of Grumman
will support this event by donating blood.

SOtli Anniversary Plans
Are Gaining Momentum
With each successive meeting of the 50th Anniversary for
Bethpage, public interest and support grows for the September
13th celebration.
More residents have become involved in the individual
committee work to meet the growing list of the day's
activities.
Kicking off at 10 AM the parade will include the Nassau
County Police Band, bands from Bethpage High School and
Bethpage Fire Department and the Old Bethpage Restoration
Band. Floats will dot the parade route including one
carrying Miss Teenage Bethpage of 1986. Local organizations
and houses of worship have een invited to join the
march.
When the parade ends at Bethpage Community Park
guests of honor and elected officials will be introduced.
Short speeches will be made by former Police Commissioner
Frances B. Looney and present Police Commissioner
Samuel Rozzi, both of whom were born in Bethpage. Their
remarks will focus on the Bethpage of 50 years ago.
William Ahem, Jr., son of William Ahem, Chauman ot
the 1936 Bethpage Progress Celelbration Committee, will
~ lead a group of antique planes in a fly-over. Bill will be
piloting a 1936 vintage plane.
Members of Grumman's Clown and Magic Clubs will
spend the day circulating through the crowd displaying their
creative talents. Plans are in the works to have a show for the
