"Old
Timers'*
Reunion
bid Time Bethpagers are planning to get
together for their second *01d Timers' Reunion.
This is not the same as a High School Reunion.-
..because most of these people were in Bethpage
BEFORE there was a High School. These are the
.'kids' who grew up in and around Bethpage in the,
30's and 40's....who walked to Powell Ave. School
through a path in the woods....who played baseball
in the .field where King Kullen now stands.-
. ...who had teachers called Mrs. Dunton and Mrs.
Hart, before they went off to secondary school in
Farmingdale or other neighboring towns.
The last reunion (a few years ago)was such a
huge success, that the 'organizers' are planning to
have another one on September 14, 1984 at the
Imperial Manor (formerly Holiday Manor) on
Hicksville Road in Bethpage. If you grew up
around here during the early years of Bethpage,
you'll want to be there. Call your friends and
family who may have moved away and let them
know about this opportunity to see old friends.
Tickets for the event are limited, at $30/per
pefson, which includes buffet dinner and drinks
served from 8 PM to 1 AM. Dancing from 9 PM
to 1 AM. Call the following people
Jo & Frank Mazzara, 935-6220; Tess (Agiesta)
DeLaurentis, 433-0987; Marie (Ratto) Callegari,
938-2785; Flo (Mancuso) Cochrane, 931-8733.
Golden Champs
season meant long practices for half-time shows.
Competition season started in late December
and lasted through March. There were 3 preliminary
competitions at which many talented teams
were present and the competition was tough. The
Golden Girls walked in eager and anxious to win
and left with 3 first place trophies, but something
was still missing — The Long Island Championship
Trophy. The pursuit of this goal involved
hard and strenuous practices which became an
obsession to every member, as well as one dedicated
advisor.
On March 24, the dream was made a reality.
The Golden Girls became Long Island
Champions-undefeated. This is a distinct and
unparalleled honor which will be cherished by the
team forever.
Th'fe Golden Girls have finally captured the title
that they have worked for-Long Island Champions.
The season started off in September under
the advisement of Mr. Fred Cohen and Captains
Angels Edelberg and Beth Fafrand. Football season,
beginning with the bonfire, and basketball

At Mid-Island
I
A special stocking loaded with Easter toys was presented
to the pediatrics unit at Mid-Island Hospital, Bethpage, to
be distributed among all of the "little patients" like thirteen-month-
old Michael Murphy, held by Mid-Island's Registered
Nurse Debbi Nocero of Levittown. Mid-Island Executive
Director Robert Reed (right) is shown extending his
thanks for the gifts from the Easter bunny, which came via
Joe Ezratty of Hy Tone Cleaners in Farmingdale (donor).
