Y laily, the Princess Augelina livoil in Dollytowii. She was a iloll^t he most lieaiitifiil, ilelicious, lornblo uiid lovely (loll that was ever 1 born, Sbo ro u 1 il close her eyes ami Pay "P a pa" a u il "Ma ujm a." S hn could stanil upou one leK ami liolijlicr other leg over her nhunlder for half nii hour. When n (lull CjiD ilo thill, she is a royal floll dDiI not a common doll. She bad :; marvelous complexiou, aud tho moro Vo" washed It the brighter it grew. 'JPhe Princess Angelina had a beautiful wardrobe. .She bad a ball dress, a d 'Vier dress, a slumber gown, a bicycle suit, a golf toilet, a rainy day costnnve, a bib aud lucker lo make believe she was a baby, and four other coiuinnu frocks, niid her cniuuonest suit was better than the best dresses of a great many dolls. Now, Pollytiiwn is in the middle of New York, It doesn't begin anywhere, »nd doesn't end anywhere. The Prin¬ cess .\ugeliDu was a magical doll. When a jierson came to buy her whom she didn't like she siiuinted with oue eye and made the other turn green, so Ihal she looked so ugly people put her down right away. Auother time when somo oue wanted to buy her whom she didn't like, she took a hat pin oul and stuck it in the woman's thumb anil the woman got mad aud wont olV iiud didn't liny any doll at all. This ia why all tho other dolls got sold in Dollytiiwu the day before ChriHtuios and why tho Princess Angelina was mil sold, 11 got around to evening and the I'riucess said, "I wonder where I'll go," Then she gave a scream because right in front of her, looking like a dear old grandfather, was Santa Claus himself. Ilo bowed very uiccly, because Santa Claus is a very polite gentleman, and said: "ttood evening. Princess; I called to see if your Highness would like to take a walk."
Tne Princess smiiod and said, "Thann you, Hanta Claus, that is just what I liave been wanting to ilo all day, but there was no gentleman around I cared to walk >7ith, " and she took Hanta Claus's arm ami they went walking out of the beautiful rooms where she had beeu living into the street.
To prevent anybody etcaling her beautiful dreiees, and I am sorry U> say that there are bad, wicked, naughty dolls who steal other dolls' gloves and handkerchiefs and who tell fibs, and do other awful things, Hanta Claus packed all her dresses, bonnets, gloves, shoes, stockiugs, parasols, fans, umbrollas, bibs, aprons, water¬ proofs, handkerchiefs aud bracelet* iuto a doll trunk. He put this ou his ¦honlder and oil' they weut. The street was very crowdetl, but it didn't iniike any dilTerencr. Sometimes they walked through the people, sometimes the people walked through them and sometimes thcv walked
cross old mnid. l!y and hy they came to a house willi big dimi :i, nu 1 u waiter at tho duoi- who let people in aud out, but they didn't iiiiiid him in the least. They aid nut even wail for the door to opeu. Tlicy went through the door and thiuii(;h the waiter, and lloaleil up slair.s into thu nursery, where there were thn-c or four children getting ready to go to bed. They were all little girl.i, and they had hung their stockings upnii the mantelpiece, and upon tlio lloor with their bucks ugniiL'^t the nikll they had put all their lioll.-i. Von sec, they thought that when Santa Clans camo he'd sco all Ihe dolls and would give each one o liltlo present. They talked about it, too. The Princess could hear Iheiu and too them, but
around Ihe child's neck. Then she closed her eyes and fell sound asleep. Aud she was still sound asleep iu the inorniiig when the child awoke aud found the Princess i,i her anii.s.

A picturesiiue shrub, especially uso- fltl at this time of the year, is Ihe holly, with ils tough and shining spiiKnK leaves and its ]iretty little full round berries. It is lliu only plaut appro, prhhe to this huppy period thut re¬ lieves the dead green and monotouous white of the uon Howenng jilants and vinc.*^ supposed to belong to Christmas and the days that follow until Kpiph- auT. Like Ihe mistletoe, most of tho holly exposed for hiiIb in .Vmericau marts comes froiu (ireat Ibitnin, nltliough some species ot the idnnt grow ill the Soatlieni States. 'J'lie commcicial li^iUy, however, is cut in Scotland and sent hero in bags. It is most viiluiilile lo work up in I'ombinn- lion with laurel, ivy and mistli'toe into wreaths, unchoi.i, i-tais aud other de¬ signs, while for niuniug decorations, that is, long fealoons and great siveep* of gieen, a few of tho bright red ber¬ ries wound ill at regular intervals heighten Ihe ell'ect aud relieve theeye. The favorite iiiauner of arranging holly for sale is lo uialie it iiji into some ouo of tho iiunieniMs iloigns appropriate to the day and Ihe season, and thus most ot the iilont oll'erud thi.i year is fusliioiied. Holly is uot so expensive ns tho mistletoe and is moro hardy and lasting.
