The WalkAmerica Picture

Eddie, an 8th grader at St. Martin of Tours, is among the hundreds of
spirited volunteers across Long Island helping to promote the 30-kilometer
walk-a-thon set for Sunday, April 25th starting at Eisenhower
Memorial Park.
Over 10,000 people of all ages are expected to participate in this year's
WalkAmerica which promises to raise nearly $500,000 for the March of
Dimes fight against birth defects. To register or for* more information,

Police Uncover Gold Coin Scam
Nassau County Police Second Squad Detectives are issuing a warning
to residents to be wary of offers to buy gold coins which in fact are
counterfeit.
Three men were arrested by Police Officer Steven Knowlton of the
Second Precinct in a parking lot at Jericho Turnpike and Underhill Road,
Syosset at around noon on February 9,1982, while they were trying to sell
the counterfeit coins pictured.
Detectives investigating this case believe that additional counterfeit
coins may haye been sold. Anyone who has purchased gold coins recently
from unidentified individuals should take the coin to a reputable dealer
for authentication.
The detectives also advise anyone who has purchased a counterfeit coin
to call 364-0500, extension 52.
