Nassau Coliseum
Dozens of major manufacturers including Radio Shack of Bethpage, as well as one hundred major retailers, dealers and distributors from the greater New York area are exhibiting
at THE NEW YORK COMPUTER SHOW to be held at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale.
Local companies will be among the more than
one hundred firms exhibiting at the upcoming
NEW YORK COMPUTER SHOW set for
Thursday through Sunday, April 22 - 25, at the
Nassau Coliseum. The show is open to the public,
with an admission cost of $5 for adults and $3 for
children.
Exhibitors in the show from the local area
include Radio Shack, Division of Tandy
Corporation of Bethpage; and Data Systems,
Stewart's Office Supply and Radio Shack of
Plainview.
The New York Computer Show is the largest
public exposition of its type ever held on Long
Island. Over 50 million dollars worth of
computers and office equipment will be on
display at the show.
Companies exhibiting in the four-day show are
from as far away as California, and attendees
will be coming from all over the greater New
York area. It is anticipated that over twenty-five
thousand will attend the show.
The show features computers for industry,
scientific and engineering applications, small to
medium businesses, government, education, and
computers for home and personal use.
Computers costing from $150 to $100,000
including mini- and microcomputers, data and
word processing equipment, telecommunications,
office machines electronic typewriters,
peripheral equipment and services will be there.
In addition, there will be robots, computerized
video games, computer art and computerized
music for those who don't know a program from
a memory disk.
Every major manufacturer will be
represented in the show, including IBM, Texas
Instruments, Rexon, Wang, Digital Equipment
Corporation, Data General, Xerox, Radio Shack,
Heathkit, North Star, CPT, RCA, Altos
Datapoint, Lanier, Atari, Apple, Commodore
and Ohio Scientific. Virtually every one of the
area's major retailers, dealers and distributors
are also in the show.
Tandy Corporation will have a special Radio
Shack "Kids Korner" exhibit featuring the latest
in educational and entertainment computers
where children of all ages will be able to actually
operate the computers.
For business people, educators, scientists,
engineers and administrators, the show is a one-stop,
"see-it-all-under-one-roof" exposition, with
educational and entertainment exhibits for their
families as well.
