A Great Season For The
Bethpage Warriors
Congratulations to the Bethpage Warriors of the St. Martins Soccer
League. Boys (6-8 year old division).
The Warriors completed an undefeated season (7-0). Their claim to
fame was playing the entire season without a goal scored against them.
A recent pizza party was given at coach Ron Palillo's home to celebrate
their winning the championship.
Team members: Coach: RonPalillo, Ass't. Tom Tennant, Chris Sapka,
Ronald Palillo Jr., David Rothberg, John Sabino, Terence Tennant,
Thomas Tennant, William Alemaghides, Harry Brodie, John Looney,
Nickolas Scalera, Bobby Connley, Danny Albert, Matthew Reardon,
Mark Mazlow.

Bethpage Teen Saves Three Children
On January 4, 1981 at 12:54 A.M. The Bethpage Fire Department
responded to a report of a house fire at 593 North Road. First Assistant
Chief Michael Croan arrived at the scene and transmitted a second
alarm. Miss Margie Lackbaum, age 14, of Bethpage was babysitting in
the home at the time of the fire. Margie smelled smoke while downstairs
watching television, she immediately went to the second floor where the
three children were sleeping. Noticing the smoke upstairs, Margie,
awoke the children and brought them to the safety of a neighbors home.
Bethpage firefighters fought the blaze for approximately 30 minutes
before bringing the fire under control. The Bethpage Fire Department
responded with eight pieces of apparatus and fifty men, under the
direction of Chief Alexander Castaldi. The Plainview Fire Department
assisted providing one engine to stand-by at Bethpage Headquarters.
