The Lady Bandit Strikes Again
Robs Over '1,000 Cash In Local Crime Binge
Three local businesses in Bethpage and Plain-view
have been robbed recently by a young
woman wielding a long-barrelled revolver who
made off with over a thousand dollars in cash.
On January 20th, the Carvel store located at
552 Stewart Avenue in Bethpage was robbed. The
woman, using abusive language, hit a customer
on the head with the gun and pointed it toward
the cashier demanding $150 in the register. She
fled on foot.
On January 22nd., a woman answering the
same description held up Lidia Health and
Beauty Aids at 661 Old Country Road in Plain-view.
She fled on foot, taking $250 in cash with
her.
Again, on January 24th., the Erga Italian Bakery,
just two doors away from Carvel was hit at
approximately 7:15 p.m. The robber fled with
$630 in cash, this time in a dark colored, late
model car.
Detectives of the 8th squad in Bethpage have
drawn up a composite sketch of the woman for
local distribution. A full description has been
compiled. She is said to be between 19-24 years
old; 5'5" to 5'6" tall; slim, between 115-120 lbs.
with straight, shoulder length brown hair. She
has brown eyes and an olive complexion. At the
time of the robberies, she was wearing a full-length
dark brown suede coat with leather inserts
and brown slacks.
Anyone with information is asked to contact
Detective Falk of the 8th Squad at 535-6853.
