LENT HONORED BY LOCAL D.A.V. Dennis Grace (r), Nassau-
Suffolk Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, and Joseph
Schlichtig of Seaford (I), representing D.A.V. Post No 143, presented
a plague to Congressman Norman F. Lent for Lent's outstanding
support of the cause of disabled veterans.

Town of Oyster Bay property
owners who wish to protest their
1980 property assessments during
the Grievance Period, May 1
through May 15, should go this
year to the skating rink lobby at
Cantiague Park in Hicksville,
Board of Assessors Chairman
Abe Seldin announced today.
In . previous years, town
property owners filed their
protests at the Town Hall Annex
on Broadway in Hicksville.
Representatives of the Board of
Assessors will be on hand in the
skating rink lobby from 9 A.M. to
4:30 P.M. daily during the
grievance period to receive
property owners' protests. They
will also be there from 7 P.M. to
10 P.M. on both Wednesdays
during the period, May 2 and May
9, and on Tuesday, May 15, from 7
P.M. to 9 P.M.
The property assessment is
important to each taxpayer
because it is the basis on which
all his property taxes are computed,"
Seldin said. "I hope that
as many taxpayers as possible
will take advantage of this opportunity
to examine their
assessments and the method used
to determine them
Copies of the tentative 1980
assessment rolls will be open for
inspection at the lobby. Staff
personnel will explain the method
used to arrive at a property's
assessment.
A property owner who
disagrees with the assessment
may file a protest form with the
Board of Assessors, either in
Mineola or through the board
representatives in Catiague
Park. The protest is then forwarded
to the Board of

Iannotta Elected
To Federal Conference
Patrick Iannotta, Ecolotrol,
Inc., Bethpage, was elected as a
delegate to the 1980 White House
Conference on Small Business by
representatives of the small
business community in New York
State. Iannotta is the Vice President
for Small Business of the
Long Island Association of Commerce
& Industry. The elections
took place at a New York State
Regional Conference in New
York City.
Commenting on his election.
Iannotta said, "Long Island has
been represented in national
small business activity in the
past, and this election indicates
our commitment for future involvement.
Long Island's small
business interests will be well
represented." Iannotta also
serves on the Business Advisory
Committee under U.S. Treasury
Secretary Blumenthal.
Iannotta, of Bellmore, was one
of eight recipients of the 1978
Long Island Leadership Awards

THREE' -PRONGED ATTACK on vandalism, which has subjected
LIRR to serious property damage, injury to passengers and train
crews, and service delays, is highlighted by the addition of a dirt
bike, center, operated by LIRR Police Officer Ray Bendici. Dirt bike
complements the railroad's radio car, left, manned by Police Officer
Jack Campitello, and helicopter, with Police Officer John Uebel on
board, patrols over the system's 500 miles of track. Ph^to was taken
on the Port Jefferson Branch, near Northport, an area often used by
youths to commit such costly acts of vandalism as placing tree
limbs, refrigerators, and iron bars on the rails.
