Bethpage Entrant Bethpage Gets a New Superintendent.
The Bethpage Board of Education
held a Special Meeting
Tuesday night to approve a replacement
for Superintendent
Edward L. Fandt. Fandt, who
began his official duties on
October' 6, left the district due
to •personal reasons' and returned
to his home in Pennsylvania.
The new. superintendent is
Roper F. Larsen. He is married
and the father of two children.
He resides in Great Neck.
Larsen is a graduate of New
Paltz State Teachers College and
he earned his masters degree"
from - Columbia University. In
1958 he was awarded his doctorate
in education from Columbia.
He holds certificates in elementary
and secondary teaching
as well as elementary and secondary
principal. In 1964 he received
his New York state Super-intendency
license.
Larsen will assume contract
on December 1 with the Bethpage
Public School system at $24,0(10
salary per year. He will supervise
a superintendency of 6,177
•students, seven schools including
a junior high school and senior
high school. The professional
^staff of the district numbers 341
and the non-professional is 110.
A spokesman said his qualifications
are" more than ample
"and he has" been associated with
the Great Neck school system
since 1952. During that time he
has been a principal, at both elementary
and secondary level and
at present is assistant Superintendent.

Long Island Lighting Company Stock Goes Up
Lori Ann Cerrella, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John Cerrella of 68 - 2nd Street, Bethpage, has
been selected as an entrant in the Finals of the
National Little Miss Half-Pint Beauty Pageant to
be held at the Starlight Roof of the Waldorf- Astoria
Hotel on November 26, 1966. The Contests
which benefit handicapped blind children turn over
all' proceeds to the Association for the Advancement
of Blind Children, 520 Fifth Ave., N. Y. Last
year the A.A.B.C. received some $4,000.00 from
the Pageants. One of 55 finalists, from an original
field of some 1,700 contestants Lori, is 4 1/2
years old.

earnings of $1.66 per share for

$216,651,000 for the 12 months
ending September 30, 1966 surpassing
the comparable 1965 period
by $12,715,000.
LILCO's electric requirements
increased 13% and gas requirements
rose 8% over the 1965
Summer electric
peaks continued to advance at a
faster rate than winter demands*
Spurred by the second hottest
;TT» -summer peaks had exceeded
the previous December's record-breaking
high point on four occasions.
A new all-time high in
electric demand of 1,494,000
kilowatts occurred on September
2, 1966 at 9:00 p.m.

There will be Ed Kranepool,
Dennis Ribant,, Tug McGraw,
Cleon Jones, Jack Fisher and
Johnny Lewis - as well as announcer
Bob Murphy, the Stadium
Diamond Club Girls and theMet-cats,
a rock n' roll group.
The motorcade will move from
the Hicksville station to Jerusalem
Avenue to Gardiners Avenue,
then into KnollLane, left into
Center Lane, right into Jerusalem
Road, into Loring Road
and on into MacLaren Stadium.
Hempstead Town Presiding^Su-per
visor Ralph Caso said that the
town's recreation section had arranged
for the trip in con junction
with the Long Island Railroad.
They're calling it the Hot Stow
League Express.
The ballplayers will answer
questions and sign autographs,
the Diamond Club Girls will distribute
free refreshments and
souvenirs, and the Metcats will
provide the music.
The Mets will remain at the
field until 12;30 p.m.
