Students Coordinate Schoolwide
Smoke Out
For the past 31 years, the American Cancer Society's " Great American
Smoke Out", has given tobacco users a day to reflect on their use of nicotine in
hopes that they will begin a life as tobacco- free, healthy adults. The good news is
that since 1965, cigarette smoking among adults 18 and over continues to
decline.
In an effort to help spread the word about the negative effects smoking
can have on one's body, members of the Plainedge High School SADD club
coordinated a schoolwide " Great American Smoke Out" campaign. During their
lunch periods, members of the club educated their peers about the dangers of
smoking and encouraged those passing by to sign the club's smoke- free pledge
Members of the Plainedge High School SADD club volunteered during their
lunch periods to educate their peers about the dangers of smoking and encovrage
them to sign a smoke- free pledge as part of their " Great American Smoke Out"
campaign. Photo provided by Syntax Communication.
