Victoria Ciampo Named National
Merit Semi- Finalist
Victoria Ciampo, a senior at Sacred Heart Academy and Bethpage
resident, has added to her long list of academic accomplishments by
being named a semijinalist in the 55th annual National Merit Scholarship
Program. From a pool of over 1.5 million high school seniors who took the
PS AT in the fall of their junior year, Victoria is one of only approximately
16,000 students nationwide who qualified for semifmalist status. If Victoria
advances to Finalist standing, she will be considered for a National Merit
Scholarship this spring. Pictured from left to right are Sister Joanne

Bethpage High School to Become
Co- Producer of Television and Online
Services Through MSG Varsity
Cablevision Launches the Ultimate Destination for
" Everything High School"
New Initiative Gives Students Valuable Real Life Skills
Bethpage High School will be among the first schools on Long Island to
partner with MSG Varsity, a first- of- its- kind Cablevision initiative scheduled to
launch later this month. Dedicated to high school sports and activities, MSG
Varsity will include a multi- platform suite of services made up of a 24/ 7- televi-sion
network, a comprehensive online destination, and a groundbreaking inter-active
service — all spotlighting extracurricular activities and events at local
high schools.
In addition to its professional productions, MSG Varsity is encouraging
Nassau County high schools to join this initiative and become co- producers of
MSG Varsity's content. Through its partnership with MSG Varsity, students
and faculty at Bethpage High School will be provided with access to curricu-lum
and training in multimedia creation and distribution, allowing them to
become active participants in telling their school's stories. The school- generat-ed
content will then be included on MSG Varsity's television and online plat-forms.
MSG Varsity's multi- platform initiative is comprised of three media serv-ices:
MSG Varsity: A 24/ 7 television network that delivers more than 400 live-to-
tape games and events each year, from football to volleyball to lacrosse.
During primetime, games from Long Island will be featured.
MSGVarsity. com: A comprehensive online destination with access to four
regional Web sites. MSGVaristy. com will also give users access to dedicated
Web sites for participating schools, created in partnership with each school and
including content specifically for that school.
MSG Varsity Interactive: A groundbreaking interactive service that combines
the interactivity of the Internet and the power of television. MSG Varsity
Interactive will take MSG Varsity's professionally produced and school- gener-ated
content from the Internet and make it available for viewing on television.
All th' ee services launched September 24. MSG Varsity will be available
on Chan; 14 and MSG Varsity Interactive will be available n Channel 614,
both on i ablevision's iO TV. Some of the programming will include " High
School Sports Showcase," with full coverage of more than 400 live- to- iape
