Bethpage HS Student Council Hosts
Nineteenth Annual Senior Citizen Prom
One look at these happy faces is proofpositive that everyone enjoyed the
Senior Citizen Prom 2009.
Seniors and students danced the night away to a variety of music at the prom.
Photos Provided by Bethpage School District c/ o Syntax Communication.
Senior citizens had a chance to relive their high school days during
their very own prom, complete with music, dancing, decorations, and refresh-ments.
Held in the Bethpage High School gymnasium, the event was coordi-nated
by the Student Council, under tiie leadership of advisor Ms. Wendy
Way, as in years past.
The attendees were treated to dinner served by student volunteers,
and danced the night away to a mix of oldies as well as modern music.
Students gladly joined in, making for a unique- scene of dance moves as vari-ous
age groups came together for a fun, lighthearted experience.
Bethpage High School students also set tables and refreshments. The
event is held annually the day after the High School's junior prom so the
gymnasium is already festively decorated. It was a great way for all ages to
celebrate!
Child Safety Seat Program Held at
Bethpage Community Park
Nassau County Legislator Ed Mangano hosted a Child Safety Seat Check
Program at Bethpage Community Park and is seen here with Oyster Bay Town
Councilman Rose Walker, her grandson Liam, Grandmother Virginia Romano,
who was having her car seat fit to her car, Legislator Ed Mangano, Oyster Bay
Town Supervisor John Venditto and Christopher Mistron Traffic Safety
Educator for Nassau County.
This program was extremely successful, and so many resi-dents
were instructed as to the proper way to install a child seat. Many were
surprised that their seats were not installed properly
Bethpage High School Receives
$ 1,000 Grant from Allstate
( L- R) Allstate agents Scott Nachman and John Mannara present a $ 1,000
check to Bethpage High School Social Worker Ms. Christine Kennedy and
Principal Mr John DeTommaso.
Allstate Insurance Company recently presented a check in the amount of
$ 1,000 to Bethpage High School, as part of the Allstate Safe Teen Drive LI
grant program. Allstate agents Scott Nachman and John Mannara visited the
school, where they personally delivered the check and commended the school
for its participation.
School Social Worker Ms. Christine Kennedy, who wrote the grant, accept-ed
the check on behalf of staff and students. The funds will go toward next
year's Challenge Day, a program that the High School just started taking part
in as a way to provide youth with workshops demonstrating the possibility of
love and connection through the celebration of diversity, truth, and full expres-sion.
This is the second year that Bethpage High School has participated in the
grant program, which is yet another example of proactive approaches the
District takes to teen safety! Photo: Karina Stabile, Syntax Communication
