The 2009 US OPEN came to a close last week m Bcthpage alter a week of tor-rential
rain. In spite of all the wet and soggy weather record crowds came out to the
Bethpagc Black to watch some " good oi' golf." The wicked weather caused del^"
and even forced the Open to be conti'^^ jed on'Monday, June z2.
Many volunteers from our community took pan in this historic event and per-formed
a variety ol jobs including selling merchandise, marshalling holes a-ditecting
spectators,
The winner of the 2009 US OPEN, Lucas Glover was a surprise to most and
crowd favorite Phil Mickclson camc in second place again.
