A 21 gun salute, by the VFW Butehorn Brothers, was part of the wonderful tribute to Veterans at the 2009 Memorial Day Parade Service.
This 2009 Memorial Day Parade and Service was truly a
fitting tribute to those men and women who served our coun-try.
The streets of Bethpage were filled with residents eager
to thank our Veterans and remember those who sadly paid the
ultimate price for our freedom. And yes... they
applauded... they cheered.. they said thank you and they salut-ing
our glorious flag!
The Memorial Day Parade Committee should be com-mended
as too should all of the many groups and organiza-tions
who paraded along the route.
The Memorial Service began at Sam st St. Martin of Tours
Church and culminated at the Bethpage Community Park,
where Bethpage's beautiful memorial sculptures have now
been relocated to. Legislator Edward Mangano was the guest
speaker and Pastor John Stuppiello gave the invocation. The
National Anthem was beautifully sung by Bethpage High
School Sui. iUf Qina Bilardi and representatives from St.
Paul's Church sung God Bless America. The Boy Scouts
svere on hand to present the colors and raise • he flag and
wreaths were laid in respect by various community groups.
The Bethpage Veteran's roll call of honor was then read as
the bells toll in solemn remembrance of those who gave their
lives from our community, as Andrew Sengstacken played
Taps. (
It was wonderful to see so many re^ . its participating in
the service and honoring those who we have vowed to
NEVER FORGET. God Bless them and the USA!
Our glorious American flag, as it made its way down Stewart Avenue. Turn to centerfold for more
photos of the Memorial Day Service.
