Investigation showed that a fire had been discovered in a basket of wood, in the kitchen of the resi¬ dence of H. L. Trubenbaek, on South Street, on Sportsmen's Canal.

" " Citizens who reeollect the achool controversy brought up in the last an¬ nual meeting held some months ago will be interested to know that the Freeport Board of Education has alt¬ ered its viewa regarding tuition of the non-resident pupils in their high school. The following letter was received a short time ago by Principal Howard Schermerhom of the local school from the superintendent of the Freeport schoola.
At the regular meeting of the Free- port Board of Education, June 10, it was decided that for the coming year,
