Terrence Howard Speaks at Joke?
By Heather Adornato
With about three quarters of the seats
filled in Rooseveh Hall's Little Theatre,
the audience gave a very warm recep-tion
for the fashionably late Oscar nomi-nee
Terrence Howard during activity
hour on Thursday, April 10th. Seem-ingly
disappointed by the turn out, "What
happened to the rest of the seats," was
the first line out of Howard's mouth.
Little did everyone know that Farm-ingdale
Student Government coughed
up $45,000 just to have him talk to
the students and faculty for one hour.
Terrence Howard has played vari-ous
challenging roles in movies like Get
Rich or Die Trying, Crash, and Hustle &
Flow. He has a degree in chemical en-gineering
and said that physics itself is
one of his greatest passions. However,
"An actor always finds their light on
stage," said Host Kiki Shepherd, and that
is the direction Howard chose to take.
Howard managed to keep the au-dience's
full attention throughout the
hour that day with great applause and
laughter the whole way through. He
spoke about his life and career, shar-ing
his secret to a successful life.
"You have to have some sense of
arrogance or you don't deserve to
be alive," said Howard, confidently.
In between questions Howard was
looking down at his feet, playing with his
Poland spring water bottle, and showing
very little enthusiasm. After having micro-phone
troubles, he finally decided to take it
off and instead speak in a classroom voice.
"Maybe that's why the microphone
didn't work," said FSC sophomore Steve
Goitia after finding out the cost of the
event. "They couldn't afford a nice one."
After the visit from the movie star, there
was supposed to be a question and answer
session but Howard was in quite a rush to
leave. He said that no one was watch-ing
his babies and he needed to leave.
"He had a lot of insight on how you
should live your life," said FSC sophomore
Shaneda Destine. "All of his characters
showed a different part of his personality."

On Tuesday, May 6th Farmingdale
State College held Wild n' Out, an improv
comedy for its students. The show began
around 8 p.m. and lasted two hours. About
40 students filed into the Little Theater
ready to watch and laugh at the green,
red, and blue teams duke it out on stage.
The games attempted to be played
were a reenactment of Nick Cannon's
Star Sightings, Talkin' Spit, Taxi Driv-er,
Let Me Holla, I'm On The List, and
the infamous Wild Style. Setting up for
each game seemed neverending, last-ing
longer then the games themselves.
FSC's first ever Wild n' Out
event was organized by students and
Resident Assistant Scott Lebowitz.
"I was thinking what program
would be ftin for students dur-ing
final's week," said Lebowitz.
The crews involved in this event
were impressed with the turnout, but
hope to be more organized next year.
Randy Antrin, a 21-year-old FSC
junior, attended the event in sup-port
of his fi-iends. "It could be bet-ter;
it's somewhat funny," said Antrin.
Unfortunatley, however, through-out
the crowd students dozed off while
others passed the time by text messag-ing
on their phones. Sarcastic remarks
echoed from the audience as the host at-tempted
to keep the teams under control.
"There's more jokes coming from the
kids next to us then on the stage," said Lisa
Colavito, a 21-year-old junior at FSC.
As the green team victoriously ac-cepted
first place, instead of a round of
applause all that could be heard were
footsteps leaving the Little Theater. The
teams hoped the students would go Wild
and were shocked when they ran out.
Dr Hubert Keen, President of FSC, welcomes Terrence Howard to Farmingdale
