Liberal Arts Mixer A IHiti by Dawn McNally
SUNY Farmingdale's Liberal Arts Mixer,
the annual event which gives students and parents
the opportunity to meet the chairman of the Liberal
Arts Department, Professor Paul Lovizio, assistant
chairman Professor Joan Gardner, and Dean of
the School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Robert Mark,
was held Monday night, November 4.
The affair, held in the Multi-Purpose room
in Roosevelt Hall, was also an evening that honored
new inductees into the Liberal Arts Honor Society,
and gave parents and students alike the chance to
meet and talk with professors of many different
departments about educational issues. Time was
allotted for students and parents to introduce
themselves to each other over refreshments.
'The tumout this evening was better than
last year," said one sophomore student. "It was
much better since they held the event in only half
of the Multi-Purpose room. Everyone was too
spread apart last year."
Parents seemed pleased with the events of
the evening. "I enjoyed meeting some of my
daughter's professors. It was nice to see the faces
behind the names," said one mother.
Another parent added, " I only wished I
had attended last year. It was a very productive
and enjoyable evening."
The Liberal Arts Club sponsored the
evening by setting up the room, providing the
refreshments, and greeting the guests at the door.
Professor Paul Lovizio was the emcee for the
evening, entertaining the guests with his comical
sense of humor. The campus radio station, 640AM
WCTF, provided music and a deejay.
The Liberal Arts Honor Society introduced
its new officers: Nicole Maxwell, President,
Kimberly Esterman, President, Scott Rizzo, Vice
President, and Dale Wright, Vice President. Dr.
Robert Mark inducted the new officers and
members. Inductees present at the event included,
Bozena Bauleo, Lisa Bello, Mark Dacosta,
Kimberly Esterman, Rita Granville, Michelle
Kennedy, Lynette Lamberta, Tara Lee, Dennis
Leonard, Peter Lico, Jennifer Lobacz, Joseph
Loparrino, Dawn Mackillop, Nicole Maxwell,
Jennifer McGinn, Dawn McNally, Scott Rizzo,
Denise Smith, and Dale Wright.
Professors present for the evening included
Liberal Arts faculty and advisors. Dr. Marilyn
Blumenthal, Dr. Marlene Groner, Dr. Raymond
Dunstan, Dr. Eugene Indenbaum, and Professor
Naomi Newman. Other professors that attended
the affair were from many different departments
including English, Sociology, Psychology, Math
and Sciences. , w «m
