On Monday September 23,1991 at 10:30
a program was conducted in dedication to the
recently completed renovations made to the Smith
Residence Hall. Among the new additions were
new carpeting, clean facilities, and new furniture
in the resurfaced t.v. lounge.
The ribbon cutting was attended by many
of the colleges top brass such as Dr. Cipriani;
President of the college at SUNY Farmingdale,
Walter Shnell; head of campus police, Ken Fisher;
head of Residence Life, Samuel Taube; Vice-
President of Student Affairs, and many other
prominent students and administrators.
This grand opening is only one of a sur-prising
number of bright spots shining on campus
this semester.
In another ribbon-cutting on campus, a
new convenience store was opened up in the mini-mall
on campus. The store sells a variety of items
which include fresh ground coffee and even the
always popular Dunkin' Donuts which will be a
nice change of pace from Sinclair Hall's Green
Jello.
This semester has also seen the grand
openings of both a new ice cream stand in Teddy' s
Place and a Pizza Hut in the Mini-Mall. These
improvements have been both noticed and appre-ciated
by many students this semester as being the
kind of things that both make the campus more
desirable and let students know that the college is
making a definite effort to ease the pain of recent
price increases on campus.
The staff at The Rambler applauds these
efforts and look forward to better and better campus
life in the future.
