SUNY FAMINGDALE!

Budget Cuts Have Affected SUNY Farmlngdale:
Office Supplies Loss of Positions
The purchase of Office Supplies has ^ n se-verely
curtailed. Everything from pape;'clips to
computer supplies has been cut back to bare
minimal level.
Vacant Positions
All pre-existing vacant positions will remain
vacant for an undetermined amount of time.
This decision will affect everyone from the
Campus Police force to the Secretaries in the
President's Office.
Tuition Increase
Proposed increases will net $500,000for SUNY
Farmingdale. Tuition will be raised $ 150 in the
Spring '91 semester. A Fall '91 semester rate is
still being discussed. The Rambler has heard of
a price range anywhere from $150 to $2,000.
Cancel Classes
All Friday and Saturday classes will be cancelled
and re-sceduled to occur between Monday and
Thursday for the Spring '91 semester. This will
affect 450 students.
All part-time hourly-rate employees have beenf
dismissed. Due to this change, both Roosevelt ^
Hall and Greenley Hall (library) are plosed
5:00PM on the weekdays and closed entirely
the weekends. There will be fewer adjunct pr^es-sors
on campus next semester. An adjunct j^fes-sor
is part time and usually only teaches dective
courses. /
No New Students
SUNY Farmingdale is not accepting any Spring
'91 applicants due to the cost of processing the
paperwork.
Finals Moved
Finals Week was scheduled to last from December
17 to December 21. The last two days of Finals
week were cancelled. Fourteen finals were re-scheduled.
Slow Output
Computer Center output is going to be delayed
due to the loss of some hourly-rate employees.
Don't be alarmed if you receive your grades in the
mail the first week of next semester.Financial Aid
packaging will also be affected.
/Campus Closed
During Intersession, from December 21 to Janu-ary
7, the campus gates will be in operation.
Noone is permitted on campus except for man-datory
Physical Plant personnel (for emergency
purposes only). All other faculty, staff and stu-dents
will be prohibited from entering campus
withour a special permit, awarded by Campus
Police. The purpose of this is to save on utility
bills that keep the buildings operating.
Fees
Fees such as the Transcript Fee, Late Fees,
Drop/Add Fees were always in existence but
were never executed will now be enforced.
Snnith Hall Closed
The Residence Life Department is a self-suffi-cient
area of campus. All monies that are paid
for housing get recycled into the housing de-partment's
budget. As the result of a pre-exist-ing
deficit, Smith Hall single-sex male resi-dence
hall, will be closed for the Spring '91
term. All male students will be consolidated
into other buildings.
