"Youth in government today means a better g-overnmient tomorrow '
. . .the truth in this simple statement, which ils the motto of the New
York Intercollegiate Mock Senate, was realized by all the students who
attended the convention in Albany. The basis of a sound g'overnment is
a well - enlightened public. Since
Plans for Baccalaureate and Commencement are be n^ co.np.e ed
for June 12th and 13th. In addition, a Senior Award A s i t m b ' y ill be
held June 1st at 11:CO a. m. on
the youth of today is the public
of tomorrow it is his duty to make
himself the enlightened, well-edu-cated
public of the future; the
Intercollegiate Mock Senate is a
step in this direction.
The Intercollegiate Mock Senate
is a body made up of representatives
f r om 25 schools of higher learning
in New York State, which include
senior colleges, junior colleges, and
institutes. The delegation from L.
I. A. T. I. was made up of David
Johanson, Don O'Hara, Joan Ju-kofski,
Phil Basilin, Barbara Olt-chic,
and Betty Raynor.
Each school presented bills, to
create laws, which aimed to cor-rect
poor conditions in the state,
or to improve present laws in this
state. All the bills were discussed
in committee before they were pre-sented
before the entire Senate.
Once on the Senate floor the bills
were openly discussed and some
changes were made in many of the
bills. The majority of the bills

success at alfred
Seven students of this Institute
traveled to Alfred, New York to
attend the Fifth Annual CISGA
Conference Thursday, April 2£th.
The students who attended were:
Leo Guiliano, 1954-55 Rambler Edi-tor;
Ann Zaner, Freshman Class
Officer; Irene Kroll and John Mig-narri.
Student Council Representa-tives;
Dave Ehlers, Student Coun-cil
Treasurer; Arthur MacDougall,
Hcrt Freshman; and Judy Braun-stein.

CISGA is a governing b o dy
which discusses problems & makes
recommendations that may be used
at the various Universities, Com-munity
Colleges, and Institutes.
There are nine active colleges which
comprise CISGA. Three community
colleges interested in joining were
guests at the conference. Schools
participating at this year's con-

ANN ZANER HEADS
CISGA FOR '55 • '56
At the recent CISGA Conference,
elections were held for the 1955-J:6
officers. The representatives elect-ed
their sixth slate of officers, and
the third president from our Insti-tute.
The newly clected president
is Ann Zaner, a Dental Hygiene
freshman from Great Neck, L. I.
Ann has lived in Great Neck
all her nineteen years where she
attended Great Neck High School.
In school she was active on stu-dent
government committees and
v/as always working behind the
scenes of the next dramatic pro-duction.
Following graduation in
June, 1953, she attended the Uni-v
e i s i t y of Massachusetts in Am-herst,
Mass. Dental Hygiene has
been her chosen profession since
her sophomore year in high school.
So in the Fall she began studying
here at the Institute. During this
year she has held the office of
freshman Industrial Division Sec-retary
and was recently elected
to the Student Council.

Along with the traditional Bac-calaureatc
Service, which will be
held Sunday, June 12th at 4: CO p.m.
in the Hangar, the guest speaker
will be Dr. John S. Badeau, form-erly
President of the American
University in Cairo, Egypt, Dr.
Badeau is now President of the
Near East Foundation in New
York City.
Commencement exercises will be
held Monday, June 13th, at 3:00
p m. in the Hangar. At this time,
William James H. Magee, Chair-man
of the Council will preside.
The invocation will be given by
the Reverend Bernhardt Bohrer of
the Farmingdale Lutheran Church.
Dr. Carroll V. Newsom, Associate
Commissioner for Higher Educa-tion
of the New York State Edu-cation
Department, will deliver the
address.
Those awards not given at the
Senior Assembly, will be presented
to the graduates during the Com-mencement
Exercises. Among the
numerous awards to be given to
