That's what you'll be hearing very soon
inside our college campus. Most colleges and
universities around the country have their own
resident radio station, and the College of Tech-nology
at Farmingdale is no exception. The sounds
of our campus radio station will soon be heard
within the walls of the campus dorms and Roosev-elt
Hall.
WCTF, (formeriy WATC), which hopes
to begin broadcasting between the hours of 10am
and 11pm in early October, has been a part of the
college for 35 years and it's current staff is
planning some major changes and renovations.
As of now, all the broadcasting is carried through
the phone lines ("carrier current"), on 640 A.M.
There are transmitters placed throughout Roosev-elt
Hall and in the dorms. These are the only
locations that now receive the broadcast. How-ever,
in the near future WCTF hopes to be broad-casting
to a number of other areas including
Clinton Dining Hall, Knapp Dining Hall, and
eventually on the campus grounds so that the
station may be received through car and portable
radios outside those areas. However, because of
the high cost of running a public station, WCTF
has no plans to broadcast to the community at this
time.
SUNY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY AT FARMINGDALE
Due to the fact that there is no Communi-cations
degree offered here at the college, and
there is no curriculum to generate funds for the
station, WCTF is fully funded by the Student
Government Association, which, with the coop-eration
of General Manager, Brian Best, helps to
meet the needs of the station and the staff.
Brian himself is extremely happy with
the cooperation the station has received from the
S.G. A. and states that Jim Sullivan, S.G. A. Presi-dent,
is doing a great job in helping WCTF attain
it's goals. One of the goals which was recently
achieved was the acquisition of new and more
sophisticated equipment enabling the station to
operate both a broadcasting and a production
booth. This allows them to cut commercials and
tapes for future airplay.
Another change at the station will be the

Editor's Note:
Due to changing deadlines and the overflowing
amount of information that passes through the Rambler
,not all the articles that we print can be as timely as
we'd like. Such is the case regarding the Women's
Soccer article on the back cover. The article claims the
Women's Soccer Team is ranked number two in the
nation. As this paper was in the final stages of comple-tion,
the facts had changed. The Women's soccer team
is currently the number one team in the nation, in their
division.
Congratulations to the team and those involved on
a spectacular job. You obviously deserve it.(Don't take
our word for it, catch the team at one of the home
games. You won't regret it.)
