Fire: Dewey Panic?

On December 7, 1987 at 9:02 am, a fire
alarm was pulled on the third floor, north,
of Dewey HalL Despite the seemingly
endless false alarms, this one was for real
The building was quickly evacuated with
the help of Campus Police, who responded
immediately and called the East Farming-dale
Fire DepL They put out the flames in
relatively no time.
The Suffolk County Arson squad was
also called irL They determined that the
apparent cause of the fire was a hot iron put
in the closet by the occupant of the room,
Kaseim Parrish. The Iron apparently came
in contact with a foreign substance
and ignited.
Kaseim's roommate, Brian Jones was
awoken by the smoke alarm and escaped
relatively unharmed. The fire totally

Two To Receive Ram's Horn Award
Raymond C. Allmendinger
The Farmingdale College Foundation has
selected two of Long Island's distinguished
leaders of the labor industry to receive the
1988 Ram's Horn Award. Raymond C.
Allmendinger, Commissioner of Labor in
Suffolk County and William Pedersen,
Commissioner of Labor in Nassau County
will be honored at the Foundation's fifth
"Swing Into Spring Ball " on Saturday,
March 12, in Roosevelt Hall at the State
University of New York at Farmingdale.
Serving as the General Chairman of this
gala event is alumnus Joseph Egan, owner
of the Marcpiere Restaurant and a member
of the Foundation's Board of Directors.
A host of outstanding community and
corporate leaders have volunteered their
time and effort to serve on the Ball
