RAMBLER STAFF ELECTS
RAMBLER STAFF MEETING
by David Johannsen
An all-staff meeting of the Ram-bter
was held in the Board Room,
Administration Building, December
2nd at 11:00 A. M.
There was considerable discussion
on the format and general overall
policy with respect to the operation
of the Rambler. Manie DeBetta,
Editor, detailed the duties and
responsibilities of the various of-ficers
preliminary to an election
of officers from the Freshman
group.
Results of the election were:
Editor — Leo Guiliano
News Editor — John Birkentall
Feature Editor — Judy Goldenblum
Sports Editor — Open
Exchange Editor—David Johannsen
Circulation — Harry Holsten
Photography — Open
It was agreed that the Senior
and Freshman Officers would col-laborate
on the January issue and
that the new officers would take
over beginning with the February
issue. It was also stated at the
mooting that here is an urgent
need for many more reporters.
Thore are, as yet, a few offices
to bo filled on the staff. Anyone
who feels he would like to be a
member of the staff is welcome to
attend the meetings of the Ram-bler.
They are held every Tuesday
night in the Library of the Ad-ministration
Building at 7:00 P. M.
FADS AND FASHIONS
Greetings, lads and lassies, and
Hiappy New Year from your FADS
AND FASHIONS reporter.
In fashions this month we have
especially noticed the new leather
jackets the girls have been sport-ing,
while competing with them are
the boys, with their bright red
hooded parkas. By the way, we
hear that men's pants have climbed
the leg four inches — and dig the
crazy knee sox, in all colors of the
rainbow, that the girls are wearing.
The fad thiis month seems to be
a sparkler on the third finger of
the left hand. Watch out, fellows-diamonds
are a girl's best friend!
Tap dancing in the rec hall seems
to have caught on too—^at least
for a certain trio of two girls and
one boy! Popular fellow!
Well, that's all jvang, see you
next month!
BOBBIE'S BOP
MOCK SENATE STEERING
COMMITTEE
by Teddy Carlin
LEE TREDE
Last year the Student Council
sent four LIATI students to New
York States Third Annual Inter-collegiate
Mock Senate in Albany.
There they participated with such
colleges as R. P. I., Siena, Skid-more,
Albany State Teachers, Hof-stra,
and many others, in a Senate
designed to teach students how
our state government is run.
The four day Mock Senate itself
involves a tremendous amount of
forethought and planning. This is
the job of the Mock Senate Steer-ing
Committee which we have been
sending delegates to, this year.
LIATI has sent students to three
of the meetings. Two have been
in Albany, one in New York City.
John Pohl, Teddy Carlin, and Eve-lyn
Kissinger have been our repre-sentatives.
The next Steering Committee
Meeting will be held here on our
campus on February 14, at 2:00
P. M. At this meeting more plans
for accomodations of delegates in
Albany, bills to be presented to
the Senate, speakers, etc., will be
discussed.
A tentative date of April 30th
has been set for the Fourth Annual
Intercollegiate Mock Senate in the
Albany State Capitol Buildiing.
By far, the happiest girl on the
Ag campus these days is Miss Elsie
Trede. Lee, as her friends know
her, was awarded the Julia T.
Emerson Scholarship on December
18th. This two hundred dollar
award is given by the N.Y. Division
of the Women's National Farm and
Garden Association to the young
lady lin the Agricultural or Horti-cultural
curriculums who shows
promise and scholarship that is
above average.
Lee, whose major is Floriculture,
is a very busy girl on campus.
She lis Secretary of the National
Association of Gardeners, member
of the Student Council, Secretary
of CIS G A, and Lady Assistant
Steward of the Grange, and you've
probably seen her working in our
Campus Store.
It's a good guess that Lee will
be using this award for home
furnishings very soon, for on New
Year's Eve she became engaged
to Les Lain. Les is an Animal
Husbandry senior, who is also very
active in Institute activities. Lee
and Les are planning a Fall wed-ding.
Can you blame her for float-ing
on a pink cloud?
LIATI will have helped plan, as
well as participate in, the Senate
this year.
