Long Island Agricultural and Technical Institute—Fanningdale, N. Y.
VOL. XXm, No. 6 November 11, 1952
FUTURE GRADUATES WELCOME HOME ALUMNI
Trip To .P.I.
Edward Ericksen, John White,
Steven Huber, Richard William:j
and Richard Lee recently attend-ed
the 1952 "Student Christian
Movement" Conference which
was held on the R.P.I. Campus in
Troy.
"The Christian At Work In the
World" was the theme, around
which the discussion and Bible
study groups were organized. The
main speaker at conference was
Julian Hart from The Yale Di-vinity
School.
Despite many difficulties—car
troubles, embarassment of walk-ing
into faculty members homesi
and saying, "Here I am" when
they arrived to spend the night,
and meetings that just seemed to
be scheduled too early in the
morning, the fellows had a good
time.
P.S.: Who enjoyed all that
Spanish rice, English style up at
Troy?
Moonlight & Music
That delightfully old "Golden
Ambrosia" was unanimously en-joyed
by the Building Construc-tion
Department and their faculty
guests at the Wyandanch Com-munity
Gardens. All were over-come
by the rhythm of the three
piece band which in itself, was
masterful from jazz to Latin
American styles.
The dance was well under way
when suddenly the chaperones
arrived and there upon received
a large ovation from the fellow
students and theirdates. Speaking
of dates, it appears that the Con-struction
Department has superb
taste, and elegance of beauty un-der
one I'oof.
The faculty which were present
were:
Mr. and Mrs. Waite
Mr. and Mrs. Pagano
Mr. Game
Mr. Truex
The "B.C." Department is now
planning an acquaintance party
for the Freshmen. This is custom-ary
as to allow the Freshmen to
get acquainted with the fellows
who have been through the mill.
The particulars concerning the
party have not yet been an-nounced,
but the "Frosh" will be
notified as to the time and place.
O. H. CAMPUS
Well, the Hort Seniors have tak-en
to travel (to become Cosmo-politan).
Friday, October 24, at
9 A.M., found a bus, filled to
capacity with anxious Seniors,
headed for the Bronx Botanical
Gardens, (that's near Fordham) to
view the "Mum" Show, as well
as the famous gardens. But much
to the dismay of everyone, es- i,
pecially Mr. Barke, the green- i
houses were under repair and
consequently, closed. So off to the ;
Zoo — almost lost a few class- ,
mates along the way, and then ,
back to the "Mum" Show. /
Wednesday, Nov. 5th, these'
same Seniors once again took to
the big city. This time for the
Annual Exhibition of the Metro-politan
Retail Florists Association
(Steven Dalsimer, President). Two
Cornucopae (horn of plenty), over-flowing
with fruit and flowers
were entered by these industrious
Seniors.
Five Hort Freshmen girls also
ventured to the show, but on
their own time and money.
To the Hort Freshmen the big-gest
thing right now is the com-ing
Frosh elections. Seems as
though there are already two par-ties
representing the O.H. Cam-pus.
Maybe there'll be flowers in
all Frosh rooms yet!!!
BIG NEWS — Mr. Lewis has
announced the fatal date — No-vember
24 for the Woody Plants
Lab final. Start working on those
twi.Hs, fellas!!
Student Christian
Association
"Federal F.E.P.C." was the sub-ject
discussed at the recent Stu-dent
Christian Association Meet-ing
which was held in Knapp
Hall Lounge on October 22. Fath-er
John M. Coleman, D. D., of the
St. Philip's Episcopal Church of
Brooklyn took the negative side
of the issue, while the Rev. Dr.
Arthur Ray Rohner from the
Congregational Church of Brook-lyn
took the positive viewpoint.
Steven Huber, President of the
Association presided over the
meeting and turned it over to Ed-ward
Ericksen, who led the de-votional
service. The Rev. Hamp-shire
of the Episcopal Church of
Farmingdale offered the Benedic-tion.
The next meeting of the Stu-dent
Christian Association will be
held on November 12, in Knapp
Hall Lounge at 7:30 P.D. A movie
on "American Foreign Policy"
will be shown. There will be a
discussion period following the
meeting. Everyone is invited.
P. S. Bring your friends along.

Homecoming
Day,1952
Some day these feet shall stroll
again and mark a path anew.
Among the Halls and Dorms and
Streets that once they strolled
on through.
The dust has settled on the soles,
the sands of time this dust is
thine.
And yet imprinted deeper yet are
memories you can't forget.
The laughter and light of youth,
the brilliant shining shield of
truth.
The surge of coming Home.
Outdoor Club
Hiking, health, and happiness
was the theme of the Outdoor
Clubs' latest outing.
Bright and early Saturday
morning October 18, at approxi-mately
five o'clock a.m. ten
sporting individuals started out
on a trip to Bear Mountain, Con-necticut,
by car.
We accidently by-passed Bear
Mo'untain and found ourselves
heading up toward Mt. Everett,
the second highest mountain in
Massachusetts (elevation 2,684 ft.)
at approximately eleven A.M. We
stopped for a bite to eat and pro-ceeded
climbing Dt. Everett. Our
climb led us to the beautiful Ap-palachian
Trail, which we fol-lowed
for some time.
Four of us decided to take the
long way home and hiked four-teen
miles to our waiting cars.
The rest of the group were more
energetic and reclimbed the
mountain back to the campsite.
After having a delicious supper
cooked over a camp fire, we head-ed
back to L.I.A.T.I, tired but
happy.
We still cherish the memories
of beautiful scenery in healthy
mountain air, and are looking for-ward
to our next excursion to
High Point, New Jersey scheduled
for November 8.
tunities to film many of the vari-ous
phases of local scenery, and
points of interest. With movies of
his two year stay in Brazil, "Doc"
Pyenson closely held the atten-tion
of all present with his unique
elaborating on "local scenery".
