Circus Has Come To
ATTENTION LADIES
AND GENTLEMEN AND
CHILDREN OF ALL AGES!
The fames and internationally
renowned Hanneford Circus
will once again make its
appearance in Metropolitan
area on the campus of the State
University at Farmingdale in
Nold Hall for a special two-day
engagement. On Thursday,
April 28th, 1977, show times
are: 4:30 and 8:30 p.m.; Friday,
April 29th performances are:
12:00 noon, 3:30 p.m. and 8:00
p.m.; the Saturday, April 30th
performances are: 2:00 and
8:00 p.m.
The circus, a major three-ring
production and one of the
country's largest, has been a
smash hit at colleges and
universities throughout the
country as well as appearing in
motion pictures and virtually
every leading television variety
show of the past decade.
Starting with the old Ed
Sullivan Show, and Don
Amacchi's International Show
Time, and on through
Coliseum, Hippodrome, the
Jungle Princess
The featured star of this year's
Hanneford Circus, Tajana, is
unquestionably the greatest
female wild animal trainer in
the world today. Her unique
ability to command a dozen or.
so BEngal and Siberian tigers,
and black-maned African lions
with merely a soft voice has to
be an innate gift. To present
this circus super star, stage
director, Philip Mo;rris has
been commissioned to create a
special production number
entitled "Jungle Drums".
This jungle fantasy takes the
audience on a make-believe
African safari, where beautiful
savage maidens, voodoo witch
doctors, and jungle demo..&
rally around the costumed ten
foot high gorilla recreating the
legend of Kong and heralding
"The Princess of the JUngle,"
Tajana, with her fierce cluster
of treacherous felines in the
steel arena.
All the costumes for this
spectacular are authentic in
every detail, even down to the
pith helmits used by the Bengal
lancers around the turn of the
century. Tajana's performance
displays her talent to command
not only tigers and lions, but
elephants as well.

The Hanneford Circus
presents a well-polished and

includes all of the traditional
circus features against a
production background one

Broadway show or major ice
review. The performance runs a
very fast-paced two hours and
includes over thirty acts and
elaborate displays. It embraces
many startling and unusual
features with special emphasis
on the performance of wild
animals including tigers, lions,
leopards, seals, and human-like
chimpanzees. Its performers
are sharp y;oung professionals
who show the audience their
talents in areas of acrobatics,
juggling, bareback riding,
dealing with trained animals
and superb aerial gymnastics.
Their outstanding performing
abilities have permited them to
rise to stardom in this, the most
demanding and diverse of all
performing areas.
One of the features of the
show will be the big Hanneford
family bareback riding act
utilizing nine performers and
six Apaloosa horses, headed by
Tommy Hanneford, the
"Riding Fool". His per-formance

Presidential Selection Committee
The College Council has
been requested by Acting
Chancellor James Kelly to
initiate procedures for the
selection of a successor to Dr.
Charles W. Laffin, Jr., who
passed away unexpectedly on
December 25, 1976.
Mr. Walter A. Lynch,
Chairman of the College
Council, has asked various
College constituencies to
develop appropriate mechan-isms
to select individuals to
serve on a Screening
Committee. It will be the
responsibility of the Screening
Committee to solicit nomina-tions
and applications and
interview candidates for this
position. The committee will
then recommend a select group
of individuals chosen from the
candidates interviewed for
consideration by the full
membership of the College
Council.
The Selection Committee
will consist of four members of
the College Council, four
faculty representatives, a day
division student, an evening
division student, a member of
the Alumni Association, and
an administrator. Mr. Robert
Spencer, Assistant Deputy to
the Chancellor, has been
d e s i g n a t e d by Acting
Chancellor Kelly to serve as the
Chancellor's designee on this
committee.
The first meeting of the
Selection Committee will be
held in late April in order to
develop the criteria that will be
used to advertise this vacancy.
The selection process will
probably extend through
summer and into the fall
semester.
Cafeteria Chaos
Maria Sue Malkman
The cafeteria in Knapp Hall in
order to compensate for a few
of their workers on vacation
has changed their original
methods of serving food and
collecting cash. This new
method has achieved nothing
but utter chaos.
Self service with certain food
items is no longer allowed.
Instead, the few women that
are working have to serve foods
ranging from hot hero's to little
containers of half & half milk.
These same women serving the
food are also working the cash
registers. The P'esta Resistance
came when I was charged a
nickel for an extra pad of
butter. Three is the limit so any
butter freaks reading this better
work up some extra money to
support their habit.
If the reason behind this
madness is stealing, I think
greater consideration should be
given to this decision. When
lunch time rolls in at Knapp
Hall, the cafeteria women are
going to have their hands full.
Between running back and
forth trying to serve the food
and keeping up with who paid
for what, the cash register is
going to show a much greater
loss than the returns for the
excessive use of butter will.
