It is not always easy to
single out one individual who
has done the most for a gradu-ating
class. For the class of
1966, however, the selection
seemed obvious. Simply
choose that person upon whom
we could always rely to share
our problems, give advice, and
indeed take a genuine interest
Dr. Gould
Dr. Samuel B. Gould, presi-dent
of the State University of
New York, will address the June
graduating class at the Univer-sity's
Agricultural and Techni-cal
College at Farmingdaie, an-nounced
Dr. Charles W. Lafflo,
Jr., president of the college.
Commencement exercises for
die college's 565 graduates will
be held outdoors on Friday, June
17, at 2 p.m.
Mr. Mortimer J, Gleeson,
chairman of the coUege's Boaid
of Trustees, will preside.
During the ceremonies. Dr.
Gould will be presented with the

performance on the vh#half
of others.
SUATC Swings With Corillon Mssic
From the Administraticn
Building's venerable chimes
tower will peal foxth glorious
strains of the Alma Mater and
other new melodies never before
heard.
The Faculty-Student Associ-ation
has purchased a new caril-lon
to replace the worn-out unit
which had become so familiar and
well-loved. The old beUs con-sisted
of 25 notes, known as the
"Coronation" unit, toned after
English bells. The new "A-mericana"
unit has 50 notes—
25 Flemish bells, and 25 harp
bells. These bells have been
toned after the bells in the River-side
Church in New York City.
An extra speaker has been add^
which will enable the music to
reach all over campus and even
beyond.
The new set i s from theSchul-merich
CarlUcm Co., CaiUloo
Hill, SellersviUe Pa., which built
the old set. Cost is $13,550.00,
with $4,000, allotted for trade-in
on the old instrument.
b is possible to mark the
,hour, aalf'^our, ocd quarte^r-hour.
However, at present, only
the hours will play. Music will
be played only at 5:00 in
an effort to avoid interference
with classes.
Mr, M. Mclntyre, engineering
supervisor of Schulmerich Caril-lons,
is installing our instru-ment.
This* company is the
world's largest producer of
carillons. They installed the
610-bell Coca-Cola carillon for
the New York World's Fair, and
many other famous carillcms.
The chimes are fully auto-matic,
but can be manually oper**
ated from a keyboard sh<»ild
an enterprising carilloneur pre-sent
himself.
Each tape can play seven melo-dies.
In addition, a disc con^
taining the Alma Mater can be
played either independently or
together the tapes.
Operation has been guaranteed
for graduatlonbut may be in oper^
ation by the time of this publi*
cation.
