Library Sets Vote March 23
On Purchase Of Branch
The Farmingdale Library
Board has called a special
election for Tuesday, March - 23,
to vote on a $ 250,000 bond issue
for the purchase of the South
Farmingdale Branch Library.
The polls will be open at
Weldon E. Howitt Junior High
School from 10 a. m. to 10 p. m. for
voting. Voter registration will be
conducted at the school on
Wednesday, March 10, from noon
to 10 p. m. for anyone who has not
voted in a school district election
during the past two years or is not
registered for the general
election.
The branch library, located
next to the Grand Union in the Sid
Farber Shopping Center, is a
rented facility and the lease is
due to expire in October, this
year.
The library has been paying
$ 25,000 per year rental on the
building for the past 15 years. The
news lease will call for a rental of
$ 25,000 per year plus the taxes.
The first year rental fee under a
new lease has been estimated at
$ 40,000.
According to Orin Dow, library
director, the branch library could
be purchased and the bonds
retired at no increase in the tax
rate.
Kins & Queen For Heart Ball
•*$£- 5- year- old boy fro
Rockaway and a 7- year- old girl
from North Massapequa, both of
whom have undergone heart
surgery to repair holes in their
hearts, will preside as King and
Queens of Hearts at this year's
annual Farmingdale Heart Fund
Ball.
Marjorie Pfoh of 50 Intervale
Avenue, Farmingdale, who will
once again serve as chairman for
the Nassau Heart Association's
Fund Drive in Farmingdale,
announced that the Heart Fund
Ball will be held at the Holiday
Manor in Bethpage on Friday,
March 5, 1976, beginning at 8: 30
P. M.
" At $ 17.50 per person the Bail
will offer dancing, a hot and cold
buffet dinner and unlimited
cocktails, making it an enjoyable
night for everyone," Mrs. Pfoh
promised. She noted that the Ball
itself is worth the price of the
tickets even without the additional
satisfaction of knowing
the money is going for such an
important organization as the
Nassau Heart Association.
Presiding at the Farmingdale
Heart Fund Ball will be Tom
McTague of East Rockaway as
King of Hearts and Jeanmarie
Rogers of North Massapequa as
Queen of Hearts.
Tommy, who is the youngest of
five children - he has a twin
sister and three older sisters -
underwent heart surgery last
August to repair two holes in his
heart and a valve seepage.
" His condition was
discovered," according to his
parents Robert and Joan,
" during one of his routine
physical examiations." But prior
to that, Tommy's mother and

GUESS WHAT THE GROUNDHOG FOUND when he peeked out of his
home Monday. If the view wasn't enough to scare him back into his
hibernation for another six weeks, he will never be frightened again.
The view of drifting snow, icy roads and high winds was enough to
scare a lot of people as schools closed and many downtown stores

Nine Yr. Old's Protest
Brings Plea From Mgr.
A letter from a nine year old
Farmingdale boy to the manager
of the Farmingdale Theatre
asking for weekend children's
matinees brought an appeal from
the manager, Mrs. Donna
Marsicovetere, for public support
to help change the policy of the
owning chain, United Artists
Theatres.
Charles Conerity wrote, " I
have come to your movies for 4
years. On behalf of the children of
Farmingdale, I would like to
thank you for your selection of
" R" rated Children's Sunday
matinees. We are just staying
home Sunday after Sunday while
you continue to show movies my
parents wouldn't see. I woujd
hope someday your policy
changes. By then it will be a
snowy day in July."
In response to the letter, Mrs.
Marsicovetere wrote the youth
and provided the Post with copies
of both letters, along with a plea
for public backing to help her
