Sidewalk Sale
Rained Out,
Rescheduled
The Village of Farmingdale's Fall Festival Sidewalk
Sale was not only rained- out last Saturday, but was
threatened by tornado warnings. At the first glimpse of
morning light the downtown merchants and the Farmingdale
High School Dad's Club rescheduled the event
for this Saturday, October 16.
Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic this
Saturday from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m. from Prospect Street,
next to the Village Green, to Front Street at the railroad
tracks.
Downtown merchants will display sale merchandise
and bargain tables along the sidewalks in front of their
stores, while offering special sale prices on their
merchandise inside the stores as well.
Downtown delis, restaurants and other food outlets
will be offering curbside service along the two block
long section of Main Street as it is turned into a huge
open- air walking mall.
The high school's Dads' Club rescheduled their plans
for their Oktoberf est too. They will be offering downtown
visitors their choice of the " best of the wurst,"
featuring knockwUrst, bratwurst weiners and
sauerkraut as well as appropriate beverages.
The Dads' Club is also attempting to reschedule the
members of the school band to stroll the streets playing
Oktoberfest traditional " Oompa" music, lending a
special festive holiday air to the occasion.
Although the special sales supplement could not be
repeated in this week's issue of the Post, all sale items
offered last week will be continued for this Saturday's
Sidewalk Sale.
The Dads' Club also announced that their plans for the
" Holidale" project for the month of December are
progressing and the Farmingdale Library has consented
to serve as a clearing- house for those wishing to
participate. Clubs, organizations or individuals who
wish to participate in carol groups or assist in the ,
project in any way to promote Farmingdale as thev
holiday town, are urged to sign- up at either library
branch as soon as possible.

Last May, John F. Pinghera,
