' Holidale'
Project
Approved
Farmingdale High School's
Dads' Club received the official
approval of the Mayor and
Trustees of the Village of Farmingdale
to conduct their
Christmas- Chanuka season
promotion to turn Farmingdale
into " Holidale."
Members of the Dads Club
have called a special meeting for
this coming Tuesday night,
October 5, in the teachers'
cafeteria at the high school to
make plans. Both men and
women from the community are
invited to attend and join in the
formulation of the project plan.
The idea of the project is to
promote the feeling of the true
" Old Fashioned" holiday spirit
within the Village of Farmingdale
and to increase the
revenues of the local merchants
by encouraging shoppers to come
to Farmingdale and enjoy the
relaxed holiday atmosphere.
An effort will be made to
recapture the family feeling of
the holidays through carolling,
parties, community activities and
special events.
As part of the month long
celebration, the name, of the
village would be changed from
Farmingdale to " Holidale" and
signs and banners would be set up
designating the change in the
village and on access roads.
Local merchants will be encouraged
to decorate appropriately
for the holiday season
and offer customers and visitors
extra courteous and helpful
assistance, while offering them
holiday cheer in the form of nonalcoholic
punch and/ or cookies
