Fine Cops
In Arrest
At Cadillac
Three police officers of the
Eighth precinct received fines
last Friday after they were found
guilty of departmental charges in
connection with an arrest of the
owner of the Cadillac Grill in
Farmingdale.
Anastasios ( Tommy)
Kalomiris, owner of the diner at
Main and Fulton Streets, was
arrested in May, 1975, by Officer
John C. Nunley who charged him
with obstructing governmental
administration, a misdemeanor.
Kalomiris told the Post that he
had protested that a police car
was blocking his driveway and
that this led to his arrest. The
charge against him was subsequently
dropped in district
court.
Represented by a Civil
Liberties Union attorney, Alan J.
Azzara, Kalomiris filed a complaint
with the internal affairs
division of the Nassau County
Police Department.
In the findings handed down
last Friday Nunley was found
guilty of making an arrest on less
than probable cause and fined
five day's pay. Sgt. Philip W.
Settepani was found guilty of
permitting the arrest to be made
and Lt. Lawrence J. Stoecker
with failing to terminate the
arrest. Each was fined one day's
pay.
Pump StationyDrain
Contracts Awarded
County Executive Ralph G.
Caso has awarded contracts
totalling $ 401,589 for construction
of a sewage pumping station in
Massapequa Park and a drainage
project in Farmingdale.
Cellbro Construction Corp.,
Farmingdale, lowest of nine
bidders, was awarded the
General Construction contract
for $ 283,674 to build a sewage
pumping station at Whitewood
Drive and Kings Walk,
Massapequa Park. The station if
needed to pump sewage from low
areas south of Merrick Road
where gravity cannot be utilized
to the Cedar Creek Treatment
Plant.
The Electrical contract went to
Cross Island Electric Corp.,
Smithtown, lowest of 12 bidders,
for $ 37,720; Plumbing went to
James McCullagh Co., Inc.,
Hicksville, lowest of three bidders
for $ 7,300 and Heating and
Ventilating to D. & D. Mechanical
Co., Inc., Great Neck, the sols
bidder, for $ 7,895. Total cost
$ 338,589.

Henn, Rathgeber Appointed
Sunrise Federal Directors
Sunrise Federal Savings and
Loan Association of 312 Conklin
Street, Farmingdale, announced
the selection of two Farmingdale
residents, Edwin F. Henn and
Fred Rathgeber to serve on the
Board of Directors of the 215
million dollar association.
Henn, who resides with his wife
Darlene and their five children at
99 Duane Street, is a graduate of
Farmingdale High School and the
State University of Farmingdale.
He also received a Bachelor of
Science degree from the
University of Illinois.
. He is currently the chairman of
the Planning Board of the Village
of Farmingdale and has served
as treasurer of the Water Witch
Engine and Hose Co. No. 1 for
the past ten years. He is also a
member of the Firemen's
Benevolent Association of
Farmingdale.
He has been active in scouting
and is presently chairman of the
Eagle Scout Board of Review of
the Paumanok District.
Henn is president of Elmer L.
Henn, Inc., a building contracting
firm located in. Beth-page.
Rathgeber, a life long resident
of Farmingdale, resides with his
wife Barbara and( their five
children at 60 Yoakum Street. He
has been a member and chairman
of the Village of Farmingdale
Planning Board and Board of
Appeals.
He is a member of the Farmingdale
Fire Department and
served as treasurer of the
Firemen's Benevolent
Association for the past ten
years. He is currently a Commissioner
of the Farmingdale
Fire Department and a trustee of
the Village Board.
. Rathgeber is the president of
Fred & Fred Lumber Corp.
located in Massapequa.
Chlorinating Water
Ranieri New
School Bd.
President
Frank Ranieri was sworn in as
the new president of the Farmingdale
Board of Education
during the annual reorganiza-tional
meeting last week.
Raymond E. Parcels received
the oath of office as the board's
new vice president.
Sworn in by district clerk
Veronica Hansen, Ranieri, who
previously served as vice
president, replaces Robert Weiss
in the president's chair. Weiss
served as president of the board
for two years. Ranieri commended
Weiss for his two terms
as president saying he hoped he
would be able to follow in his
footsteps.
Newly elected board member
Stanley Weckstein was sworn in
by the clerk and took his seat on
the board. The two reelected
board members, Louis Avallone
and Robert Campbell received
the oath of office for their new
terms on the board.
Veronica Hansen was reappointed
district clerk and Ed
Sperling district treasurer.
Kendrick Smith was reappointed
as school district attorney for six
months.
Ranieri said that appointments
of the various committee
chairmanships would be announced
at a later date. The
board tabled the appointment of a
consulting architect.
Weiss was named by the board
to represent the school district as
voting delegate to the Nassau-
Suffolk School Boards
Association.
The Farmingdale Post was
named as an official newspaper
for the school district and will
carry the district's legal notices
to the public.
In a board session following the
reorganizational meeting the
board approved a set of
guidelines for approving free
lunches and reduced price lunches
to students.
A special meeting of the board
is scheduled for August 2 to
award bids and process
warrants.
Firemen** Drill

The Village of Farmingdale's
Water Department will be
required to chlorinate its water
supply system starting July 19,
1976. The reason for this is the
construction of drainage
facilities on Thomas Powell Blvd.
and Roxbury Street Areas. As
soon as construction is completed,
chlorination will stop.
The East Farmingdale Fire
Department will host the Town of
Babylon Volunteer ' Firemen's
parade and drill next week,
opening with a bazaar on Wednesday,
July 21.
The bazaar will run Wednesday
through Saturday, July 24. The
drill, featuring competition
between the 11 departments in
the Town of Babylon, will be held
Saturday at the department's
headquarters on Conklin Street.
