Courtesy Month
Set By Rotary
The Farmingdale Rotary Club
has designated the month of
March as Courtesy Month and is
seeking to commend acts of
courtesy, thoughtfulness, honesty
and bravery.
The Rotarians are asking the
residents of the school district to
help by recommending individuals
for their acts during the
month. They request that anyone
who observes an ace of courtesy,
thoughtfulness, honesty, or
bravery write a letter to the
Farmingdale Post describing any
such event.
The letters will be reviewed by
the Post and delivered to the
Rotary committee who will read
them and judge the ones worthy
of commendations and citations
will be awarded accordingly.
Members of the Rotary Club
serving on the judging committee
will be Dr. W. E. Follett, John C.
Puretll, Dr. William Haydu, Seb
Albrecht, Salvatore Magro,
Joseph Stern, Charles Tilgner,
and Willis B. Carman, Sr. The
Post will be represented on the
judging committee by Robert J.
Starrett, editor and manager.
It is the hope of the Rotarians
that the acts of courtesy will
inspire others to continue such
acts in the months and years to
come. They hope the local
citizens will take the time and
trouble to write letters citing
worthy actions.
Public Hearing
On School Budget
A public hearing on the
preliminary school budget will be
held on Monday, March 10, at
Farmingdale Senior High School
at 8: 30 p- m.
School officials said a school
budget newsletter will be mailed
to all residents of the district on
Tuesday, March 4, so residents
will have sufficient information
to make recommendations to the
board.
The Board of Education feels
the information should be
released to the public as soon as
possible to keep them informed.
Extend Time
For Carousel
The period of time for soliciting
funds for Carousel, benefiting the
1975 Farmingdale Children's Day
brotherhood collection, has been
extended because of the inclement
weather this past Sunday.
Returns may be made to the
Farmingdale library branches or
to the religious schools at the
Farmingdale Jewish Center, St.
Kilian's Confraternity, St. Luke's
Lutheran Church or St. Thomas
Episcopal Church.
The Children's Day Committee
expressed their appreciation to
Miss Cathy Quinn who led a folk
sing- a- long at the collection
center on Sunday, and the B'nai
B'rith for their presentation of
" The Lonely Abalonian" puppet
show.
Coordinators Patricia Schiro
and Betty Tomforde extended
their appreciation to all
youngsters who did solicit contributions
in the rain and
reminded them " it's not how
much we collect, but that we gave
of ourselves to help others.
Remember, when we add pennies
together, they soon become
dollars".
