Retirement Party
For Village Clerk
In a special session held
Monday night at the Main Street
Library, the Farmingdale Public
library Board of Trustees has
voted to re- submit the Library
Budget for 1975- 76 in the amount
of $ 527,255.
Considerations were given to
the present monetary squeeze
and the rising cost of living that
has had its effect on all residents
of District # 22. With careful
planning, the Board has made a
reduction on the budget to be resubmitted
so that the resulting
increase compared to the
previous budget is approximately
5M>%, whereas the standard cost
of living has xrisen 11.3%. The
budget would increase the tax
rate in Oyster Bay .021 cents per
hundred or a total of $ 1.26 per
year for the average home. The

remain the same, the tax rate
will be lower, than anticipated.
The additional surplus of $ 275,000
announced at the regular August
meeting has now swelled to
$ 350,000. and another $ 37,000 will
be added to the state aid funds.
This will set the tax rate increase
for the Town of Oyster Bay
residents at 75.4 cents per hundred
and for Babylon residents at
$ 2,074.
Board members are not sure at
this time where the additional
funds were saved from last
year's budget. A complete
analysis of the computer printout
will be necessary to locate the

" We have to face the facts. Our
activities to raise the money have
failed and we're forced to admit
defeat. But we're not quitting.
We'll be directing our energies
towards finding another way to
keep our full school programs."
