HONORS FOR JIMMY: Farmingdale Mayor John T. Hallahan presents a plaque to James J. McKenna
during the retirement dinner for the former Village Clerk- Treasurer last Thursday night at the Crest

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor
John W. Burke and his entire
incumbent Republican team
swept to victory in Tuesday's
general election, also sweeping
the Farmingdale precinct.
Farmingdale voters, however,
decided they did not want either
fo$ n of Nassau County government.
They defeated both county
propositions for a Board of
Supervisor and the 15 member
Legislature.
The Board of Supervisors
proposition won approval in the
Town over the legislature as it
did county- wide, defeating the
supreme court ruling to change
the form of county government.
Farmingdale's candidate for
the 3rd Legislative District won
an election, but not a seat.
Republican Saixatpre Nicosia
outpolled Democrat Sandra
Brenner 4140 to 2742, but there
will be no legislature. .„,
The three incumbent
Republican Town Councilmen,
Gregory W. Carman, Salvatore
R. Mosca and Warren M.
Doolittle easily turned back their
Democratic challengers.
Republican incumbent Town
Clerk Ann R. Ocker defeated
Democrat Helen Greenwald of
Syosset.
Farmingdale's Mildred
DeMarco made the best showing
on the ballot for the Democrats.
Mrs. DeMarco drew more votes

Town Adopts Budget
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor
John W. Burke has announced the
Town Board's adoption of a 1976
budget which reflects no increase
in the General Fund, Highway
and Part- Town tax rates. Burke
said that " we have once again
managed to hold the line on taxes
despite the continuing pressures
of a nation- wide inflationary
cycle.
4 ' Projecting for the maintenance
of services and continuation
of a long- range capital
improvement program, in light of
the fiscal crunch, has made
preparation of a budget containing
no increase in Town taxes
difficult to achieve," the
Supervisor continued. " Our
success in doing so is the direct
result of adherence to sound
fiscal policies and of savings
achieved through internal belt-tightening
which has permitted
us to minimize spending."
Burke once again cited the
continuation of a job freeze on all
but the most essential personnel
as a most significant factor in
tight
" but
with
lowering the Town's spending
limits.
" The 1976 budget is a
one," Burke concluded,

Garbage Pick- up
Days Confused
Some confusion has evolved
over the new Village of Farmingdale
garbage pick- up policy
as to what days the garbage is to
be picked- up on which end of the
village.
On the east side of Main Street,
garbage will be picked- up on
Monday and Thursday mornings.
This means homeowners will put
it out at the curb on Sunday and
Wednesday nights.
On the west side of the village,
garbage will be picked up or.
Tuesday and Friday mornings
and is therefore put out on
Monday and Thursday evenings.
All trash collections will be
made on Wednesdays.
JOHN PETER ZENGER AWARD for community service is presented
to James Keats, founder of the Farmingdale Hawks, by Post Editor
Bob Starrett. The award was given by the Nassau County Press
Association last Friday night at the Salisbury Restaurant in
Eisenhower Park. Governor Hugh Carey was the featured speaker at
the awards ceremony.
