Youth Board Plans Carousel
An after school program
sponsored by the Farmingdale
Youth Board geared especially to
children of working mothers, will
begin in Albany Avenue School on
Monday, December 2. For a
small charge this non- profit
program will care for children
from 3: 30 to 5: 30 p. m. and
coordinate their return by car-pool
or school bus.
The program is called
Carousel. It was created out of
the belief that all young children
should be supervised after school
and out of understanding the
costs for private child care is too
high for many families to afford
and good child care is hard to
find. Carousel is an alternative to
child care. Through the medium
of games, art, drama, trips and
an optional homework center
Carousel hopes to provide a
social and educational experience
for children, which will
encourage their personal
development. JoAnn Magnus
Carousel's director is trained in
the field of art education and the
volunteer staff will have ongoing
training in working with
children.
A weekly charge of $ 3 per child
or 60 cents per., day for short
weeks or part- time working
mothers, will cover the basic
costs of this program. This will
include a light snack for the
children. A registration fee of $ 5
will provide for insurance and
some equipment. Scholarships
are available. Registration will
take place at the Albany Avenue
School at 8: 30 to 9: 00 p. m. on
Tuesday evening, November 26
in room 102. Carousel will
begin on Monday, December 2.

The Farmingdale Public
Library Board si trustees has
agreed to sponsor Hardscrabble
Fair for May 1975. Under the
severe financial restrictions
imposed by failure to receive
voter approval of their budget,
the Library Board has had to reexamine
the program offerings of
the Library with a view to setting
priorities. In agreeing to sponsor
Hardscrabble 1975, the Trustees
accepted the cooperation of the
service organizations and individuals
in offering to take
committee assignments and help
organize the fair thereby
reducing manpower demands on
the library.
The Hardscrabble Committee
will be meeting soon to start the
initial planning. Individuals who
want to join the group can call the

Since the water district covers
portions of North Massapequa as
well as South Farmingdale, the
election to select a water commissioner
for the district will be
held in both respective fire
houses: South Main Street,
Farmingdale, and North
'' Broadway, Massapequa.
The two fire houses will be open
as polling places from 4 p. m. to 10
p. m. A fire district commissioner
will also be selected in the same
election, but the commissioner to
serve South Farmingdale will
only be elected at the South
Farmingdale fire house. Different
fire district candidates
will be presented at the North
Massapequa fire house, although
the same candidates appear at
both polling places for the water
district.
The library polls at Howitt Jr.
High will be open from 10 a. m. to
10 p. m. for voting on the bond
issue only. Voters registered for
