Deputy Clerk Retiring
Plans are being . made by
village officials and employees
for a retirement dinner honoring
Mrs. C. Myrtle Scheidel, Far-mingdale's
deputy village clerk.
The testimonial for Mrs.
Scheidel, who recently announced
her retirement, will be
held October 4 at the Holiday
Manor, Bethpage.
Mrs. Scheidel became an
employee of the village in 1947 as
an assistant to former Village
C. Myrtle Scheidel
Clerk William A. Wesche. She
was appointed as the village's
first Deputy Village Clerk in 1949.
A lifelong resident of Farmingdale,
she attended Main
Street School and graduated from
Farmingdale High School in 1933.
Daughter of former Supt. of
Public Works, the late Roswell C.
Ketcham, she is married to John
A. Scheidel, a Grumman employee
and resides at 15 Balcom
Rd., Farmingdale. Their son,
John " Skip" Scheidel, Jr., is a
1961 graduate of Farmingdale
High and is married to the former
Marlene Hansen. They are. the
parents of two daughters, Laurie
and Keri and reside in Madison
Conn.
A member of St. Thomas'
Episcopal Church, she served as
organist for several years and
currently is a member of the
senior choir, the Episcopal
Churchwomen and a former
member of the Altar Guild.
Prior to her marriage, Mrs.
Scheidel was employed by Independent
Silk Dyeing Co. as a
member of the office staff and as
secretary to Rudolph H. Weber,
Sr., a former Mayor of the
Village of Farmingdale. She also
worked at Ranger Aircraft
during the early World War II
years.

Village Hall.
Executive Sessions
No Longer Secret
In a move aimed at providing the public with more
information about what the Board of Education considers
in its executive sessions, several decisions of the
school trustees were made public this week. The new
procedure is one of a number of means by which the
Farmingdale Board will keep the residents informed of
its work and breaks precedent with past practices which
kept information about the sessions confidential.
w l ¥¥/* Several of the decisions will be
L U C K V W l l l l l C r S confirmed when the Board takes
* official action at its public
meeting which is to be held on
Monday, October 7. In prior
years, certain items which would
not require public action would
go unannounced unless there was
a specific reason to make the
decisions public. The new
procedure will provide more
information to the public and
make residents aware of actions
sooner than in the past.
Two decisions effecting the
operation of particular schools
were among the first made public
by the Board. At the Woodward
Parkway School, an administrative
position has been
vacant since the opening of
school. Mrs. Elizabeth Passman,
who had served as assistant
principal in the building, was
promoted to the principalship of
the Albany Avenue School. Miss
