Float $ 11,000 Note For Fountain
Village Readies Memorial
Fountain For Labor Day
The Board of Trustees of The Incorporated Village of Farmingdale
passed a resolution last week authorizing the issuance of $ 11,000 bond
issue to finance the construction of the Memorial fountain on the
village Green.
The Womens Club of Farmingdale had raised $ 1,725 for the construction
and the Knights of Columbus had donated an additional $ 100.
The memorial fountain installation in the last phase in the jom-pletion
of the Village Green, adjacent to Village Hall and is expected
to take place within the next several weeks when the installation of a
large fountain basin takes place. The nearly 13 foot diameter basin
will catch a six foot spray of water and will be in operation in the
spring, summer and fall seasons. The ornamental fountain will be
lighted and will serve as a focal point on the three quarter acre plot
acquired by condemnation several years ago at an estimated cost of
$ 97,000.

Town Youth Bureau Calls
Second Meeting For F. H. S. The Town of Oyster Bay Youth
Bureau has scheduled its second
meeting toward the development
of a Youth Service Program for
Farmingdale youngsters on
Wednesday, August 12 at 8: 00
p. m. in Guilford Hall at Farmingdale
High School.
The recently- created Youth
Bureau conducted its first
meeting in Farmingdale on July
28. All interested persons are
invited to attend the second
session, which will advance the
organization of a local Youth
Council to work with the Youth
Bureau in meeting the needs of
youngsters in the Farmingdale
area.

The newly created Town of Oyster Bay Youth Bureau held its first meeting at
Farmingdale High School recently, to determine the needs of the community and
help organize a youth service program. Signing in is Don Snyder, ( left),
Recreation Director of the Farmingdale Youth Council. Youngsters Edward
Fagan ( standing) of 28 West Drive, North Massapequa, and Jim Flesher, 134
Matthew Street, South Farmingdale, join Oyster Bay Town Councilman Warren
M. Doolittie, who is serving as liaison between the Town Board and the Youth
bureau, as Addie Attard of the Youth Bureau signs Snyder in. The second
meeting of the Youth Bureau in Farmingdale is scheduled for this Wednesday,
August 12, at 8: 00 p. m. at Farmingdale High School.

[ filler's Republic Aviation Division and two other companies were
selected by the United States Department of Transportation to build
experimental safety vehicles which ultimately would be used by the
government to set automotive safety standards. Teamed with
Chrysler Corporation of Detroit, Digitek Corporation of Marina del
Kay, Califormia and Raymond Loewy William Snaith, Inc. of New
York, Fairchild llilier will deliver its cars within 18 months. The
vehicles will be five passenger lour - door sedans weighing about 4,000
pounds, and will incorporate an array of innovative safety features.
