Farmingdale To Receive Sewers
Earlier Than Exnec
Farmingdale was one of the
communities to receive the nod
from Nassau County Executive
Eugene Nickerson in speeding up
the sewer construction program.
Farmingdale, which was
scheduled for January 1978 to
1981 has been revised to July 1976
to January' 1980.
Nickerson added that the study
of means to improve existing
sewage treatment will be intensified
and that the County
needs more stringent regulations
to prevent pollution by industrial
facilities and the monitoring of
industrial waste discharges into
sewers.
Village Board Considers
Restaurant Application
A presentation was made by
the Friendly Ice Cream Stores to
erect a colonial type restaurant
building on the site of the old
Lobsterman on Fulton Street at
West Drive was presented
Monday night at Village Hall
Farmingdale. Mayor Joseph
Zureck was not present due to a
confined rest at doctor's orders,
nor was Deputy Mayor John T.
Hallahan, who was delayed by
the lateness of the Long Island
Railroad. Present were Trustees
Owen Drugan, Norman Krasnow
and Bill Carman Jr.
The Friendly Ice Cream store
representatives explained that
their restaurant was not a " drive-in
take out sort of establishment".
They catered to a luncheon
trade, evening snacks and
would only need parking for
seated guests except for a take
out ice cream package station.
Two plans were presented- one
for a 44 car parking and one for 38
car parking, the latter with a
larger parking area.
The Board said that they would
refer the matter to a Planning
Board.
Mrs. Roy Jones, representing
the Farmingdale Women's Club,
complimented the Board for the;
' tasteful Christmas decorations'
and for having the parking
meters bagged'. She asked
whether the Board was still
continuing their study " of Main
Street and the lack of adequate
traffic flow and suggested the
consideration of one side of the
street parking. The Board said
that the matter was still under
study.
