894 SENIORS TO GRADUATE John A. McLennan, principal of the Farmingdale Senior High
School, has announced that the fifty third Annual Commencement
Exercises will be held this Sunday, at 5: 00 P. M., on the school
grounds.
The class will number 894 graduates, with 72 per cent planning to
continue with post- high school training.
The Salutatory will be given by Eugene Dahl and the Valedictory by
Karen Svendsen.
The members of the class of 1969 will be presented by Dr. William
A. Kinzler, Superintendent of Schools. Mrs. Lucille Goulding,
president of the Board of Education, will present the diplomas.
The High School Band will play under the direction of Alfred Fiore.
Reverend James R. Corgee Pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church,
will deliver the invocation and Benediction.
Plainedge High School will graduate 576 seniors this Sunday at 5
p. m. in ceremonies to be held outdoors at the High School Athletic
field.
Cheryl W. Lund will give the salutatorian address and Eric H.
Silver will deliver the valedictory.
Dr. John Rinehart, superintendent of schools, will present the
graduates, and School Board President James Ackley will make the
diploma presentations.
Northside Students Receive Presidential Awards
Twelve intermediate students
received Presidential Physical
Fitness Awards at the annual
Flag Day Program of Northside
Elementary School, Farmingdale.
The awards were
presented by Mrs. Rosalie B.
Samuels, Principal, and the
school's physical education instructors,
Mel Stern and Miss
Joanne Farmer.
Three youngsters received the
high honor for the second consecutive
year - Debra Ciesielski,
Dana Comolli, and Glen Bradley.
The youngsters now have certificates
from the White House
signed by two Presidents, Lyndon
B. Johnson and Richard M.
Nixon. Receiving the award for
the first time were Donna
Branston, Thomas Carre, Janet
Coss, Robert Grant, Mark
Kassner, Kevin Kennedy, Frank
LiCausi, Timothy Mickol, and
Carol Reithemeir.
The Flag Dag program, an
annual event at Northside, was
sponsored by the Student Council
and held outdoors on the mall.
Anthony Tonachio, Director of
the Farmingdale Youth Council,
was the main speaker.
Holiday Postal
Service Announced
Postmaster Leo J. Morgan has
announced that the holiday
schedule will be in effect for July
4. Only the three boxes in front of
the Main Post Office, at Main and
Prospect Streets, and the
collection box in front of the
South Farmingdale Branch and
the one at the Contract Station
Dory Pharmacy, 123 Fulton St
will be collected.
AGGIES' COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER: Perry B. Duryea, Jr.,
State Assembly speaker, addresses the record graduating class of
1200 during the 50th anniversary Commencement held last Friday at
State University at Farmingdale before 4,000 persons.
