REGENTS SCHOLARSHIP
WINNERS NAMED
Hallahan, Speaker At Sunday Brotherhood Program
Farmingdale Village Trustee John T. Hallahan
will be the principal speaker at this Sunday's
Brotherhood Program sponsored by the Kiwanis,
Rotary and I. ions clubs of Farmingdale.
The program, which is slated for 2 p. m. at
the Weldon E. Howitt Junior High School, will
include St. Kilian's Boychoir, the Farmingdale
High FohooJ String Orchestra, Crusuader Honor
Guard and Drum Corps, St. Lukes Lutheran Choir,
Farmingdale Methodist and St. Thomas Episcopal
church choirs, the State University Agricultural
and Technical CoUege choir, the combined choirs
of St. Kilian's R. C. church and the Farmingdale
Jewish Center choir.
Hallahan, who is an administrative assistant
to Congressman James R. Grover Jr. and an
executive with a national pharmaceutical firm,
will speak on the topic ' Peace Through Understanding*
.
A ' Man of the Year* award will also be presented.
Village Mayor Joseph Zureck has proclaimed
this week as Brotherhood Week and the Inter
Service Club Committee in charge of the event,
extends an invitation to residents of the community
to attend the free admission event.
Members of the inter service club committee
include: the Honorable Willis B. Carman, Dr.
Ellory Follett, John O. Wagner Jr., William
Stoll, Owen Schell, Sam Bernstein, David Eys-mann,
Donald Trudden, and Chairman Ronald
Shircore.

WHEREAS, the month of February,
1966 marks the 32nd anniversary
of the Brotherhood
Movement, and
WHEREAS, Brotherhood Day in
Farmingdale, Sunday, February
27th is an expression of
our concern and friendship towards
our fellow man, and
WHEREAS, The Brotherhood
Movement sponsored by the
National Conference of Christians
and Jews whose primary
objective and goal is cooperation
and under standing amongst
Protestants, Catholics and
Jews, and
WHEREAS, The National Conference
of Christians and Jews
champions the American ideal
that people of various cultural
and religious backgrounds
can live peacefully together,
and
WHEREAS, The National Conference
of Christians and
Jews has sparked the recognition
and practice of humanitarian
principles to which our
country has long been dedicated
NOW, THEREFORE, be it
RESOLVED, that I, Joseph W.
Zureck, Mayor of Farming-dale,
do hereby proclaim Sunday,
February 27th, 1966, as
Brotherhood Day, and urge
each and every citizen, young
and old alike, to participate
in the program to be presented
at the Weldon E. Howitt,
Jr. High School.

The program is sponsored by
the Rotary Kiwanis and Lions
Club of Farmingdale.
In an inter - faith community- wide effort, 5,000 children collected small
coins totaling over $ 1,000 between the hours of 3 to 5 p. m. last Sunday afternoon.
The children braved stiff winds and freezing weather in their humanitarian
effort to assist their counterparts throughout the world. The
youngsters concluded their afternoon at Weldon E. Howitt Junior High
School where the monies were turned in for UNICEF in celebration of Farmingdale

The placing of ashes on the forehead on Ash
Wednesday ushered in the season of Lent for four
months- old Janine Hannon and her sister Debbie
of 115 Rose Street, Farmingdale. The Ash Wednesday
ritual was administered by Father Richard O. S. B.
of St. Kilian's Roman Catholic Church.
