PARADE, SERVICES SET
FOR MONDAY
As Farmingdale prepares to honor its war dead on Memorial Day, a similar
service was held last Sunday at Pine Lawn Cemetery, sponsored by veterans
organizations of Long Island.

Howard Jaisle Passes Away
Howard Stephen Jaisle, a life
long resident of Farmingdale,
and one of its best known and well
liked citizens passed on suddenly
on Tuesday, May 25. He was a resident
of 863 Fulton Street. '
He was born on January 16,
1900 in Farmingdale and is sur-'
vived by his wife, the former
Mildred Whitson; a son, Richard
H. of Farmingdale; two daughters
Mrs. Charles J. Nelson of Farmingdale
and Mrs. Thomas R.
Jackson of San Antonio, Texas;
and nine granddaughters.
He had completed' 40 years with
the Farmingdale Individual Laundry
and had been a partner since
1947.
He was a member of the FA AM
# 975 Bethpage Lodge, the Beth-page
Chapter, Order of Eastern
Star, Koyal Arcanum, Farming-dale
Fire Department where he
had served as a Chief; the Benevolent
Exempt Firemen's Association
where he had served as a
Treasurer; he was an active
member of the Farmingdale Methodist
church and the Farming-dale
Rotary Club; he was a Past
President of the Suffolk Laun-derers
and Dry Cleaners Association
and a member of the
Talbanard Post # 449 American
Legion.
Jaisle attended the Farming-dale
schools and was graduated
from the Heffley Business Institute
in Brooklyn.
He was a Veteran of World
War I.
He is survived by his wife,
Mildred; his children, Esther
Nelson, Richard, and Lorraine
Jackson; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, May 27 at the Arthur
White Funeral Home. The services
are: Fastern Star at 7: 30,
Bethpage Lodge 975 F & A. M.
at 8 Farmingdale Fire Dept. at
8: 30 and religious services at
2 p. m. Friday May 28. Interment
will follow in Upper Melville
Cemetery, Melville.
Band, Chorus
Receive Ratings
For the second consecutive
year Farmingdale Senior High
School Band and Chorus received
the highest possible ratings in
the New York State School Music
Association competition held at
Hofstra University last Friday
and Saturday. The Farmingdale
Senior High School Band under
the direction of Alfred Flore >
received a VI- A. The Farming-dale
Senior High School Chous
conducted by Alfred Schiffrin also
received a VI- A.
Farmingdale ensembles and
soloists received the following
ratings; High School woodwinds-

The Farmingdale Memorial Day Parade scheduled
for Monday, May 31, will begin at 8: 15 a. m.
when the Fire Commissioners hold their annual
inspection at the Fire House.
Wreaths will be placed at the Firemens Memorial
at 8: 30 a. m.' in front of village hall. Parade
Units will form at 8: 45 a. m. in the Municipal
Parking in the rear of Bohacks.
The parade will proceed on Rose Street and then
to Grant and Williams, Fulton and north on Main
Street to the Main Street school. Ceremonies will
be held at this site before the continuation of the
parade. The Honorable Howard T. Hogan will speak.
Ex- Chief Wilbur Maul will introduce the guests.
The Invocation will be said by Pastor Phelps of St.
Lukes Lutheran Church, Chaplain of the Farming-dale
Fire Department.
Pledge of Allegiance will be led by the Commanders
of the American Legion Post # 449, the
VFW Post # 516 and the Young Men # 1803.
The Star Spangled banner will be played by the
Farmingdale Senior High School Band under the
Director, Alfred Fiore.
The Welcoming address will be given by Mayor
Joseph Zureck of Farmingdale.
The Benediction will be said by Rabbi Abraham
Simon of the Farmingdale Jewish Center.
The Fanfare will be played by the Weldon E.
Howitt Jr. High School band, under the direction
of Solomon Flum.
Parade GrandMarshall, will be exchief F. Knoell.
The 1st division will be ex- chief G. Dillon Jrf;
the second dividion will be led by exchief K. Scherer
and the 3rd division will be led by exchief S.
Orobona.
