SCHOOL TAX TO DROP The school tax rate in District # 22 will be reduced
nine cents resulting from the State Legislature's
action on State Aid, it was affirmed this week
by A. Terry Feathers, Chairman of the Board's
Finance Committee.
The Farmingdale Board ( and school boards
throughout the state) were forced to complete
their 1965 - 66 budgets prior to action by the
Legislature on state aid, it was noted. This
action was finally taken by the legislature on
April 14, when it was voted to increase the per-pupil
aid ceiling from $ 500 to $ 600, and was
immediately signed into law by Governor Rockefeller.
Board president Roger Cahaney, in a joint
statement with Weathers, said " there is no longer
any doubt that the additional aid that has been
anticipated has come through. On this basis, we
fully expect the tax rate to be reduced from the
present $ 6.89 to $ 6.80.
Cahaney said that a special out that the 9<! reduction was

Forum Brings Out Lively Interest
In School- Library Election
As election day draws near, candidates for school
board are vying for public vote with campaign literature,
talks at forums, and telephone reminders.
In Farmingdale there is a three way race for both
seats vacated by incumbents. For the seat of George
Schriro, the three candidates are: Mrs. Josephine
Jones, Richard C. Anelli and Robert Campbell. For
the G. Roger Cahaney seat the three candidates
are: Bernard Lang, Martin Dolnick, and Carl
E. Gorton.
Outgoing incumbent George Schriro endorsed
Mrs. Jones for his seat; while G. Roger Cahaney
said that although it was his policy not to make
endorsements, he would like to see how " one
year's absence affected the good work of Bernard
Lang."
Trustee A. Terry Weathers said that up until
