Nasser seeks Re- election
Albert " Al" Nasser of 746
Main Street, Farmingdale has
filed his petition for re- election
as Water Commissioner of the
South Farmingdale Water District.
Commander Carl A. Dittmeier ( left), Cadet
James Lawless ( center) and Ensign Al Hack
are getting the rifle drill team ready for Parents
Night on Friday, December 3 at Parkway Oaks.
The Farmingdale PBC Nautical Cadets will celebrate
their sixth anniversary this Friday and
make the Cadet of the Year Award.
Nasser is seeking election to
succeed himself. In making his
announcement he pointed out
that at all times during his terms
of office, the District has been
well operated and has met all
requirements. -
In his 12 and a half years as
Commissioner of the South
Farmingdale Water District,
Nasser has pointed out that he
served during the pumpage of
more than 12 billion gallons of
safe drinking water for the District's
consumers.
Nasser pointed out that the
recent completion of two new
wells eliminated the need for
water restrictions in this area.
The South Farmingdale Water
District secures its water supply
by means of ten deep wells with
depth varying from 156 to 758
feet. Deep well turbine pumps
raise the water from the subterranean
depth to provide pressure
in the distribution system
and fill four existing storage
tanks with a capacity of 3,200,
000 gallons. The present 11,700
metered users, representing a
total population of 44,000, are
served through more than 119
miles of water mains emanating
from the ten wells, with an
authorized capacity of 18,460,000
gallons per day.
Despite the rising cost of operation
and maintenance during the
thirteen year period of expansion
of facilities where the population
has greatly increased, the water
rates have been maintained at
their current low price and the
water tax has been reduced from
40 cents to 10 cents per $ 100.
assessment,' Nasser said.
Postmaster Issues
Mailing Advice
" Last Christmas the post office
handled more mail than ever
before, yet the operation was the
most efficient in history," Postmaster
Leo J. Morgan said this
week.
Nationally about 99 per cent
of the Christmas mail reached
its destination before Christmas
Eve.
•• ZIP Code use and the cooperation
of the public in mailing
early were the main reasons
for our success. With the
same or better cooperation this
year, we expect to handle an
even greater volume of mail with
less effort than during the 1964
Christmas rush."
Morgan had advice which would
help mailers prepare for the
upcoming mailing season.
Up date last year's address
list and include ZIP Codes. The
phone book is usually a good
source for local addresses.
