Farmingdale Seniors Honored
At Awards Assembly
Farmingdale's Frank Hynes and Bethpage's Ed Fehrenbach congratulate
each other at the close of the Republican convention held Thursday night when
the two received GOP unanimous designations. Hynes, TOB Receiver of
Taxes, and Farmingdale Republican Leader received a Councilman designation
and Fehrenbach, A ssemblyman, received the designation for Supervisor
of the Town of Oyster Bay following a nomination speech by former Supervisor
John Burns.
Carman Bows To
Ginsberg in Gop
Assembly Race
Underdog Gregory Carman of
Plainview and Farmingdale was
a close contender for the Republican
designation for Assemblyman
candidate in the new 9th
Assembly District. On the first
ballot, after an impressive show
of strength from supporters who
carried placards, banner, balloons
and who were accompanied
by a Farmingdale band, Carman
led with 19 votes.
However, in the final ballot
he lost out to Martin Ginsberg
of Plainview who had 58 votes
to Carman's 31.
Ginsberg is a 35 year old
attorney.
Carman made a decision not to
run in the Primary and pledged
his full support to Ginsberg.

The Sixth Annual " Fireama"
will be held by the Farming-dale
Volunteer Fire Department
on Sunday, July 4.
A colorful parade of local c ivic,
youth and firematic organizations
will begin at 6 p. m. Following
the parade there will be a Hoot-enany,
kiddie rides with the grand
finale a display of fireworks.
Frank Hynes, active community leader and business
man in Farmingdale, Receiver of Taxes
of the Town of Oyster Bay, was designated as
Republican candidate for Councilman by committeemen
Thursday night at Holiday Manor.
Hynes has had experience as Comptroller of a
large company; a real estate broker and insurance
broker; and for many years taught insurance fundamentals.
He was born July 16/ 1917; was educated at
Nassau Collegiate Center Wervels Institute, Knights
of Columbus Business College where he studied
insurance law, business law and accounting. He
also took a course in government, philosophy and
practical business management at Hofstra University.
Also a one year cost accounting course
at Pace College.
Hynes was appointed Receiver of Taxes on
April 3, 1962 succeeding the late David Welsh
who had retired. In November of thaf year, Mr.
Hynes was elected for a full tf » 7* m whion ^ "<= now

A veteran of World War II, Eyries served in the
US Army from 1941 to 1946 including service in
the Phillipines and Japan. He was honorably discharged
with the rank of first Sergeant. He is a
member of the Farmingdale Republican Club, a parishioner
of St. Kilian's R. C. Church; a member of
the Emerald Association of the Archdiocese of
Rockville Centre; is a member and served for
two years as President of the Farmingdale Lions
Club. He served as chairman of many organizational
fund drives including the Red Cross, Heart
Fund, Cerebral Palsy, AHRC and Farmingdale
Boy Scouts. Mr. Hynes resides on Bethpage Road
with his wife, Eileen and their six children,
Barbara 18, Robert 17, Douglas, 15, Joseph 12,
Nancy 11 and Elizabeth, four.
