ACE NEW REPUBLIC POLICY
A Vietnam combat pilot, Air Force Captain Edmund
A. Mackett, came to Republic Aviation in
Farmingdale on Tuesday of this week and praised
employees who built the F- 105D Fighter Bomber,
although the plane is no longer being produced it
has become the workhorse on the majority of
Vietnam missions. The phasing out of production
of the F- 105D led to Republic's decline as a major
military air- craft producer. FairchildHillerCorp-oration
acquired Republic last month. Mackett's
appearance was timed with the new firm's policy
to create an image of efficiency and cost-consciousness.

At last Monday night's Village

local taxpayers protested the
proposed bus routing dirough

The group presented the village

against the proposed new
bus route. The route proposed
by the bus company would come

After hearing the protest and
receiving the petitions the village

of residents was taken to
determine the need for his service
in that area and that no
advance legal notice had been
published regarding the proposed
bus route.

County Charter, only die

could approve any franchise
charters after a public hearing
on die application and die only
legal requirement of mis Board
was a Resolution of Consent,
which Consent has as yet not
been resolved. Mayor Zureck
answering for the Board noted
that die Board reaction to mis
application for Consent was that
die Village as a whole would
benefit by this service in that
it provides residents working
in the Allen Boulevard area a
commuting service not now a-vailable,
it provides transportation
to persons wishing to go
to the Copiague area, not now
available, and it also might be
of benefit to local merchants
by bringing in residents of adjoining
areas.
Chairman John J. Delaney of
the Board of Fire Commission-ers
advised the members of the
Board that the Fire Department
has received the new 1250 G.

acceptance of diis equipment
