31 SENIORS, 26 JUNIORS IN
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
- Over $ 950 for UNICEF was brought into headquarters from an all day collection project by 3,000
youngsters Weldon E. Howitt on Sunday. Looking over the collections are Mrs. Pat Schriro of 121
Prospect Street, corrdinator of the unique program in observance of Brotherhood week and Cathy Noto

26 Juniors and 31 Seniors were admitted to
membership in the Farmingdale Chapter of the
National Honor Society at ceremonies held last
Wednesday evening.
The aspirants, consisting of twenty six Juniors
and thirty one Seniors, were officially inducted
at a ceremony in the High School auditorium,
followed by a reception in the library.

To be eligible, Seniors must
have maintained a scholastic average
of 85% or better for three
years and Juniors must have
maintained an average of 88%
or better for two and one- half
years. Eligibility for membership
is limited to 10% of the
Junior class and 5% of the Senior
class.
The Faculty Advisory Board,
consisting of a representation
from each department, selects
the members on the basis of
Leadership, Service and Character.
Faculty advisors, officers, and
newly inducted members attended
a luncheon given in their honor
by the Farmingdale Rotary Club.

The Farmingdale Chamber
of Commerce will meet at
Village Hall Main Street,
Farmingdale on Monday,
March 1 at 7: 30 p. m.
$ 2486.48 in cash and checks
was taken by two unknown male

6 p. m. on Saturday, February
20.
The Farmingdale Meat Market
has asked mat any customer
who wrote checks on February
19 th or 20th notify the Farmingdale
Meat Market so arrangements
might be made to stop
payment on the checks that are
now in the hands of the armed
robbers.
According to the Eighth Precinct
of die Nassau County Police,
the case is under investigation.
It was not determined
whether die robbers were lying
in wait for anyone who came a-long
with a night deposit at the
bank or wheriier they had followed
die Farmingdale Meat Market
employee.
Morgan To Prompt School Savings
Postmaster Leo J . Morgan said
he had just been instructed by
Postmaster General John A. Gro-nouski
to extend all cooperation
possible to students, educators,
bankers, and odier volunteers in
promoting and servicing the
Treasury's School Savings program
in Farmingdale.
" I am pleased to carry out
Mr. Gronouski's instructions,"
he said, " because any program
which stimulates young Americans
to save diese days, is for die
good of the country andfortiiem-selves."
The School Savings Program
during World War II, he noted,
provided one of our most effective
instruments for teaching
thrift and good citizenship.
An adequate supply of Savings
Stamps and books and promotional
material, he said, will be on
hand to meet die needs of die
students and die community in
carrying out die Stamp Consignment
plan.
The Stamp Consignment plan
has in die past, greatly eased
die burden borne by our school
systems. The plan eliminates die
financing problems of die school
savings program which our
schools have had to handle.
Honored as Seniors of the
Month in February were four
seniors of the Farmingdale
Senior High SchooL They are:
Kathleen Barnard, Grayce
Cataldo, Edward Montojo and Anthony
Sabino.
According to Wendell W.
Cutlice, Assistant Principal,
Kathy is an ^ active member of
Business Service Club, Future
Secretaries Association, senior
Grayce has been the organizer
of both the G. O. card sale and
the magazine drive. Her leadership
ability and organization has
been outstanding and deserves
recognition. Beyond her work
as treasurer of the senior class,
she is also a member of the
honor team in volleyball and
basketball.
Edward has given diligent
service and loyalty to the leaders
club and Wrestling Team He is
modest and quiet, but sets a
fine example for others to follow.
Tony, a personable individual,
has been an active member of
the student body for four years.
He is presently president of die
Key Club and a member of the
National Honor Society.
Presenting a check of $ 318 for die Farmingdale Community
Scholarship Fund to Murray Tuck, Chairman are co- caption
Bob Rieger representing die Freshman Haskt- tijull Team and
Farmingdale Classroom Teachers Association Vice President
John Regan. The money was raised at a basket game between die
teachers and students at die Weldon E, Howitt Junior High SchooL
The teachers suffered a 21- 13 defeat, and a few bruises. Coaches
William Annis, Wally Papo and lrv Apgar arranged the event.
