Village Tax Rate To Remain Same
The Farmingdale Village tax
rate for the year 1965- 66 will
remain the same as last year at
$ 1.58 per hundred of assessed
valuation, it was determined at
Monday's Board of Trustees
meeting of The Incorporated Village
of Farmingdale held at Village
Hall. No taxpayers were
present on Monday when a public
hearing was held on the tentative
budget.
The assessed valuation of the
village was increased by $ 724,-
648.00, which at last year tax
rate would provide the Village
with additional tax revenue of
$ 11,557.00. Along with every type
of business operation, increased
cost of operations, in addition
to Capital Expenditures such as
Street Improvements, increased
street lighting facilities, purchase
of Fire Fighting equipment,
new Highway equipment, increased
Social Security costs,
greater Water Storage capacity,
Pumping equipment and Transmission
lines for greater flow in
order to reduce the Fire Insurance
rates paid by the homeowner
and businessman, these increased
costs greatly exceeded
the estimated additional
tax revenue provided by the increased
assessments. After several
such meetings with Department
heads, and lopping off close
to $ 100,000 from original budget
estimates, the budget as presented
on Monday called for appropriations
in the amount of
$ 507,921.00, less estimated revenue
of $ 240,877.00, leaving a
net amount of $ 267,044.00 to be
raised by real estate tax levy.
Louis Kalogeras, representing
the engineering firm of Holz-macher,
McLendon and Murrell
presented to the Village Board
on Monday, the plans and specifications
for the installation of the
new 500,000 gallon overhead
water tank and the new pump
house to be located at 315 Eastern
Parkway, site of present tank.
Public bidding for the installation
will be held on May 3.
John J. Delaney was reappointed
as the Chairman of
the Board of Fire Commissioners
for a one year period, and upon
recommendation of the Fire Department,
