Proposed Expressway Route
The Southwest Civic Association endorsed the route of the
Freeport-Roalyn Expressway between Preeport and Baldwin
as recommended by the engineers at its January meeting' in
th cafeteria of the Archer Street School.
J. Harry McCarthy displayed a
map of the route proposed, spoke In
favor of it and answered numerous
questions concerning the inaffier.
At the conclusion of his talk the fol-lowing
resolution was unanimously
adapted.
"Whereas the need for one or
more North-South super-highways
hris been talked of for years, and
. "Whereas building such a high-way
becomes^ jnore expensive each
year as more and more of the avail-able
land is used for home-sites,
and
"Whereas the map of such a high-way,
prepared by Andrews, Clark

' The Freeport Memorial Library
has on display an exhibit of five
sculptured pieces executed by David
L;- Gittlita of- Iiincoln-Place.
The pieces, product of a year's
work, show,what can be acsomplis
ed by^an enthusiastic, mterested be-ginner

instructor.
Walter Rotan, a foremost sculp-tor,

Holy Redeemer School
Plans 8-Room Addition
•Plans for stariing a campaign to
raise $300,000 with which to finance
the construction of an eight class-room
addition to the parochial
school were announced by Mons.
John J. Mahori.lpastor, at all masses
n Our Holy Redeemer R.C. Church
Sunday morning. He said that an
architect-had drawn plans for the
structure, which had been paid for,
and that contracts could be let as
soon as funds were" avaUaDle^C" r.
'Mons. Mahon said the' present
eight-roof structure was built . In
1925 wfcen the late JomvL, OToble
was the local pastor, and that the
present registration of 600 exceeded
the capacity of the school.
The pastor also submitted his an-nual
financial report to the parish-ioners.

Nassau County, and the widening
of Atlantic avenue in the vicinity
of Grove street by the village, will
be held by the Village Board at its
meeting on' Monday, February 11.
The South Main street setback
would provide for the widening of
the street to 70 feet from 200 feet
north of--Smith street, south to the
southerly glde of Atlantic avenue,
and 60 feet from there to the Bay
Estates.^
The1 Atlantic avenue map provides
for a set back of five feet, along the
northerly side from 140 feet easter-ly
from the easterly "line of South
Ocean avenue east across South
Grove street to a point of some
100.80 feet westerly from the west-erly
line of Sportsmans aveuue. On
the south side it is proposed tovset
a new line, for a setback about 29
feet expending 'from 150 feet easterly
from the" easterly . line of South
Ocean avenue extending to 100 feeV
westerly from the westerly line, of
sportsmans - avenue1.
